Sri Lanka, an island in the Indian Ocean attracts five varieties of turtles. Turtles are pre-historic creatures that have been in the ocean for millions of years. However, due to human activities they are an endangered species. We visited a Turtle Hatchery and learned many interesting information. In the Turtle Hatchery, the turtle eggs are protected from poachers and predators.

Fun Felt Owl Inspired By The Crafty Creatures Book
The Crafty Creatures book is very inspiring because of its colourful images and step-by-step instructions. I like how the author, Jane Bull shows how felt and cloth can be used to sew and knit a variety of fun, cute, wooly animals that children will enjoy playing with. There are many projects in this book I have bookmarked to try. We made this Fun Felt Owl from the book.

Crafts Made to Decorate The Table For Thanksgiving Weekend
I made these Thanksgiving themed crafts with my children, as part of a sponsored post for Collective Bias® using material I bought from Michaels Arts and Crafts Store and things found around our home.
I encourage my children to be thankful everyday and remind them about those who are less fortunate than us. I also teach them to be thankful for the bounties and mercy of God for providing us with everything we need. We made a table centrepiece, place cards and napkin rings to decorate our table when we have guests during the long weekend.

We Learned How Elephant Dung is Transformed Into Paper During Our Eco Tour
Products made with elephant poo paper
During our visit to the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage in Sri Lanka, we saw a small elephant poo factory that gave us the opportunity to learn how elephant dung is transformed into paper. I have seen products made with elephant poo during the Green living show in Canada, so very curiously we went in. September 19, 2013

Having Fun With The DoodleArt Poster
We enjoy colouring the Original DoodleArt Flowers poster as an activity to do in the evenings. This 24"x34" poster provides over 70 hours of creative colouring for the whole family. This poster kit includes 12 high quality, dual precision-tipped, washable, non-toxic colour markers. Since we did this activity as a family project we involved our 4 year old to participate in the colouring, although this kit is recommended for everyone over 8 years.

Celebrate Snoopy's Birthday with Hallmark
I've always enjoyed watching and reading anything related to Charlie Brown, Snoopy and the crew from Peanuts® when I was growing up and still enjoy them. We had a fabulous time last year when we watched You're a good man, Charlie Brown at the Stratford Shakespeare Festival.

Exploring South America at Michaels Passport to Imagination
Since I took the Michaels unplugged summer pact, we have been seriously committing time to do crafts. My daughter has been participating in the Michaels Passport to Imagination summer craft program whenever time permitted. She really enjoys the activities that are instructed by a Michaels staff during the sessions, in which children learn about different icons and landmarks in the seven continents. My daughter enjoys being able to use different craft medium and material that are provided to do the activities.

Summer Reading Adventures with DK Readers
I have always found DK Readers to be very useful in encouraging and teaching my children to read in English. I like that the DK Readers have stunning photographs and illustrations, which make the context in the books interesting. We enjoy the engaging, age appropriate stories and information found in these books. The DK Readers are separated into five different levels that enable children to progress in their reading skills.

Our Stay at Santa's Whispering Pines Campground Cabin
When we went to Santa's Village, we decided to stay over one night at Santa's Whispering Pines Campground so we didn't have to drive back on the same day. This being our first overnight camping trip with the kids, we were very excited. Santa's Whispering Pines Campground has been voted to be the Best Campground in Muskoka for the last two years, so we knew we were going to be in good hands. Except for a few mosquito bites, thank God everything was smooth and we loved our experience.
