How To Complete An Amazing Bathroom Remodel

Gaining the opportunity to revamp your bathroom is a chance that can't be missed. It is a good way to  transform the aesthetics without having to spend too much time or money on the project. A bathroom revamp is far easier to manage compared with a much larger rooms like the kitchen, but it is vital to take the time to plan the remodel if you want the end result to surpass expectations. Here are some ideas on what to keep in mind if you are thinking of remodelling a bathroom.

OXO Essentials In Our Bathroom

OXO bathroom sink grip
Couple of years ago we added a shower stall for a bathroom in our home, and we find having a shower stall is more useful for our family. We built a barrier that gives us the option of being able to fill the shower stall with water. I found this OXO 5" silicone tub stopper allows us to effectively seal the drain to fill the shower stall with water if we want. The suction cup secures the stopper to the floor when we use it. I like that when we are not using the stopper, we can use the suction cup to store it upright.

Our Completed DIY Modern, Eco-Friendly #BathroomReno

bathroom renovation
We started a #BathroomReno project in the beginning of November, as a weekend and some days in the evening type of project. Having one full washroom and a powder room in our home is not convenient for a growing family like us, so instead of moving to a bigger home we wanted to upgrade ours to accommodate all the family members.

Adding Lahara Touch2O Technology Faucet To Our Bathroom

You may already know about our DIY #BathroomReno project, we started a couple of months ago. I am glad our hard work during some evenings and weekends are paying off and the project is coming together to reflect our vision. With so many options available in today's market, my husband and I planned to invest and make our bathroom modern and eco-friendly.

Planning Our #BathroomReno DIY Project

home depot bathroom renovation
As our family grows and children are becoming bigger, it is easier for us to do upgrades and renovations to fit the needs and comfort of our growing families rather than moving. During fall many of you like us, plan on doing indoor renovations and look for helpful information. Doing the renovations ourself is lots of fun, as it gives us the comfort of using any product we like and saves us a lot of money.

Getting the house ready for the #holidays and a Giveaway

handheld 2-in-1 scrubber

I have been cleaning our home a bit more than usual because we are getting ready for winter and had a few celebrations.  Now with the December holidays approaching, we are anticipating more family and friends to come over and spend time.  My grandpa used to say that a clean kitchen and washroom judges a home :) So keeping a sparkling washroom and kitchen is a priority in our home. Soap scums, dirt caused by humidity are all reasons that make it hard to maintain the washroom, especially if we don't have the correct tools.  I am very happy that this year we got to try these fabulous scrubs and brushes from Rubbermaid.
I found the extendable scrubber helps us with hard to reach corners more easily.  We have the option of detaching the head or scrubbing part easily to use without the handle.  The pole extends from 24" to 40" and works with switchable pads.
I like the idea of putting the cleaning liquid into the spraying scrubber.  It allows us to easily spray and clean one spot before moving to another, which is very useful with little ones in the home, as I usually don't get to start and finish cleaning in one time.  The spray scrubber holds about 1/2 cup of liquid at one time.  We have the option of switching the pads for this scrubber depending on the surface we want to clean, which is very convenient.

We found the flexible scrub brush useful as we cleaned the washroom floors and areas where some surfaces are flat and some have curved contour surfaces i.e. bathtub and sink.  The rubberized inset helps to grip it firmly.  When the red button on the top part of the scrubber is pushed, it releases the 3" red part of the bristle to move into any position we like and then locks it into place.  This bendable firm part of the bristle helps us scrub curved areas in the bathroom.
The handheld 2-in-1 scrubber is extra large and is useful for full surface scrubbing for large areas.  I like the detail brush that is on top, which is similar to a giant toothbrush.  This detail brush is handy to scrub around the faucets, grout and small spaces.

We can switch the pads to either disposable, scouring, bristle or sponge.  The pads are available to buy separately.  Scouring pads are good for all surfaces.  Sponge pad is good to clean and wipe.  The bristle brush is handy for heavy duty scrubbing.  The disposable pad come in packs of six to "clean and toss" for messy jobs.
A lot of thought has gone into designing and making this selection of Rubbermaid products for the bathroom, which makes our job easy.  All these products can be found at Home Depot, and some of these can be found at Walmart and Home Hardware stores.
To help one Canadian reader this holiday season, I am happy to bring this giveaway that ends on November 20th.  Please enter through the rafflecopter below.

Cashmere EnviroCare dress and What is truly "green"

Cashmere EnviroCare has made the first ever children's dress crafted from 100% recycled bathroom tissue by designer Izzy Camilleri.
White Cashmere Collection was revealed in celebration of Fashion with Compassion to raise awareness for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.
We can contribute to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation by casting a vote for our favourite dress. For every vote, Cashmere will donate $1, up to $10,000, in the winning designer's name.
To vote, all you have to do is visit or and select your favourite design.  All voters will be entered into a draw for a chance to win one of four $2,500 shopping sprees.
Recent research conducted by Kruger Products show that people want to buy green products, but they rarely actually buy.  Many people are confused about what elements differentiate truly 'green' products from the ones that claim to be 'green', therefore not knowing what to trust as credible.  Here is a link of the results from the research.

Designerliners for wastebaskets

These Designerliners are fancy decor bags for our trashcans.  These disposable bags made in USA are biodegradable.
Muriel Wiener came up with this creative idea to "dress the mess".  She has a selection of 11 colours and design combinations to fit into any home decor.
Here is a list of available designs:
Polka dot pink, orange, navy blue and green
Gingham gold and red
Leopard black and blue
Toile red and blue
Tattersol black

We can re-use these bags if we wish depending on what type of trash is put in it.  The designerliners I received were the large size 24" x 24" blue toile.  They were pretty big, so I put them in my kitchen indoor recycle bin.  These bags are strong enough to hold the content and I could easily take it out, get rid of the recycle and put it back in place or throw it away depending on the condition of the bag.

For the designs to show the bags have to be placed inside out.  Friends and family that visited told me that it looks cute and ended up looking into the trash, which is definitely a different perspective on how the waste is looked upon :)
I also placed it in the bedroom trash container, where I put old paper and such so I don't have to throw these bags away each time.

Designerliners are also available in small size 17.75" x 19" bags and medium 21" x 24".  I think I would prefer the small bags to place in the guest washroom.  It would also be neat if there were a variety of designs in a package to change it up.  A pack comes with 12 designerliners for $9.95.  It would be nice if there were more bags in a pack especially if the small size packages contain more liners.

The designerliners also make custom design liners for companies.  These decorative waste liners are available online and on amazon.

Toilet seat covers

These toilet seat covers are a really good idea. PottyCover is handy to take on trips when we need to use public washrooms. With young children and a little one that is being potty trained, I find we use public washrooms all the time.

I think all public washrooms should have seat covers as a necessity to eliminate the spread of germs and diseases, unfortunately we don't see all the washrooms with this facility.

PottyCover solves this problem as it covers the sides and front of the seat, so the dangling pants and legs don't touch the seat. Young children usually balance holding the sides of the seat, and this cover protects their hands from dirt and germs.

This disposable toilet seat cover is made with a double layer of soft non-woven fabric, and there is a layer of plastic on the bottom so it doesn't get wet. It is quick to place over the seat and stays on the seat without a hassle, which makes it easy when the little ones need to use the washroom urgently :)

There are 6 potty covers in a pack individually wrapped for ease. It is sold at these stores and online. It can be used by children and adults. PottyCover will definitely come in handy so do check it out.

Tag a towel

I love this smart creative idea, and I think you will too.

Reusing our bath towels is an important part that we can do everyday to be eco-friendly and we should all think about it. It will reduce our impact on the environment and save water, energy, money and work :)

Although we are all in the same family, sharing towels is not hygienic: as it doesn't keep the germs and infections away. Sarah Burns came up with this cute fabulous idea to tag our towels. It is magnetic and made from super soft terry cloth so it will not rip and tear the towels.

Each member can have his or her own tag. This will teach children and adults responsibility and keeps the washrooms organized. And you won't be getting angry at someone leaving a wet towel for you :)

Tag a towel will be a perfect gift for newlyweds, college students, roommates and for travelling. You definitely have to try it to know how useful and a good idea it is. It is sold online and at Fisher kids.

Cottonelle roll covers

Cottonelle has come up with a great idea, that respects the toilet roll. Jonathan Adler, an interior designer has designed beautiful covers to keep the rolls in. It comes in Barjello blue, chevron pink and clover green. As you see, the designs are colourful and creative. He has used eye catching designs to fit any bathroom d├ęcor.

Cottonelle calls this "respect the roll" to change people's view of the toilet paper and to make people care about the roll the same way they do to their toothbrushes and cotton swabs.

I like this stylish way to store our rolls of toilet paper. It is a wonderful way to keep the toilet paper clean, handy and organized. You can order yours today and keep this decorative roll covers in your home.
