Making a Felt Soft Ball Inspired by the DK Gift Boutique Quilting Book

I checked out the Quilting Patchwork and Appliqué book by DK publishing, which covers everything we need to know to successfully do quilting, patchwork, and appliqué. I like that the book leads beginners through all the details that helped me to get confidence to try different projects. This book will also inspire those with experience in quilting, as it has over 100 quilt block patterns to make unique keepsakes. I have done a few patchwork projects before, and have made this rectangle cushion with the same material and this denim cushion with different patchwork designs.

Hasbro has toys especially made for Spiderman fans. They have a product line just for preschoolers and “big boys”, which is sure to be enjoyed by our little ones. "Big boys" will enjoy the Amazing Spider-Man 2 movie inspired Slash Gauntlet Spider-Man toy, which has a small figure where the Gauntlet connects to Spider-Man's arm and extends twin blades. These toys have made my family and I excited about watching The Amazing Spider-Man 2 movie :)

Children can switch on the light easily when needed at night without putting on the main light.

Imagining and Discovering With The Imaginext Rescue City Center

I am sure all parents just like me enjoy watching their little ones imitate, imagine and play. It puts a smile on our face when our children are playing and we hear positive interactions such as helping or caring about others. When my children play, I hear them imagining to be superheroes and firefighters to save the day, or caring about other people as doctors, or being a person in the community like a cashier.

Playing With Fisher-Price Little People®

Imagination and discovery has a positive impact on our children's growing minds. I remember when I was growing up, I always played with my cousins and brothers imagining that we were out at sea or selling food in a market or being a teacher in a classroom. I am sure these fond memories helped us grow. Now as a parent, I love watching my children learn through play. It is fun to watch them imagine that they are firefighters and run around the house, be explorers and find bugs in the garden, help me garden and act as though they are farmers and then sell the produce from the garden like there is a market, make cupcakes like they are bakers with their toys and always try to save the day as heroes.

High-tech Innovative Tagamoto Motorized Vehicle and Road Set

Children over four years will enjoy playing with this Tagamoto Motorized Vehicles and Road set toy. The Tagamoto motorized vehicle has high-tech innovative movement, as the car reacts to the codes placed on the track. These code strips control the lights, sounds and movements in the car.
Children will enjoy playing with it for a long time, as each driving experience is different. Even adults will enjoy watching this car as it zooms around. We really like it when the headlights and taillights come on. There are 15 different sounds such as engine revving, car horns and sirens that get activated by the codes.

Our Memorable Fisher-Price Favourites and an Exclusive offer for you

I have always been a fan of Fisher-Price products, as I like how they design their toys with a learning aspect.  Their products playfully engage our children's curious minds, bodies, and personalities.  Ever since my children were born, I have always bought meaningful toys that help them as they grow up.  We know that children learn best as they play and have fun.

It is easy for us to choose Fisher-Price products as gifts for children since the products in their site are separated by baby-gear, walking, learning or discovering.  The toys are also separated by age categories such as 0 months+, 6 months+, 9 months+ and 12 months +. I feel good giving and buying reliable quality products, as I know from experience that the products stay in good shape even after everything my children have put them through. The Fisher-Price toys and gears that my children used were in such good condition that I have gladly passed it onto a family member that could use it.

Exciting #LEGODUPLO sale @ChaptersIndigo + Win $50 to shop

Even before my husband and I had children Chapters/Indigo has always been our go-to indoor place during all seasons.  We like hanging out in the calm environment at Chapters/Indigo surrounded by books.  Indigo is a good place to sit, relax, read and have something delicious from Starbucks; that is not the only motive :)

We have continued this "tradition" even after our children were born.  My husband and I hangout in the children section and take turns supervising the kids so we can get some alone-time to read the latest magazines and books.  I can also spends lots of time looking at the beautiful home decor products they have, controlling my wants so I don't buy the whole of Indigo :)

When I was attending cake decoration classes, my husband's go-to-place was Indigo.  He entertains our kids either by reading to them or participating in the organized children's programs at the Indigo Kids Play Area.  These free programs at Chapters/Indigo has fun, crafts children can make as well as a Indigo staff member or a local author reading the latest children books to the kids.
Click to make it big; this is what is happening during the March Break at the Kennedy Commons location
For my family and I, on top of the fabulous products at Indigo the free WI-FI for members, clean environment, children friendly washrooms and the play area has been motivating us to keep going to Indigo.
As you probably know we are big fans of LEGO so we are very excited to let you all know that this month all LEGO products at Indigo will be 20% off.
If a store is not close to you, don't forget to check Indigo online.

Sharing the Love with Play-doh

Instead of giving lollipops and candy why not give these cute 2oz containers of play-doh to your child's classmates.  Children over 2 years will enjoy these cute colourful containers of play-doh, which will allow them to make whatever they want.  My daughter made small heart shapes and my son made a play-doh flower for me :)
I enjoyed playing with the play-doh as well, while showing  my kids how to make flowers with it.
These containers of play-doh will keep children entertained for quite a while, and I am sure many parents and teachers will appreciate this :)
I like that the package comes with 15 containers and stickers for us to personalize and place on the container.  I used a marker to personalize it because pencils and regular pens didn't work well.
These play-doh containers, along with the printable cards below would be awesome treats for our children's friends at school.

Girls will be girls and Boys will be boys with these Kinder Surprise Toys

Kinder® Surprise® limited edition Barbie™ and Hot Wheels™ packages have thrilled both my son and daughter.  They were super excited to see a package of Kinder eggs made especially for each of them.
Cool stamp inside Kinder® Surprise® limited edition Barbie™

My daughter couldn't be happier that the eggs were wrapped in pink, as she thought it was marked just for her so she can tell it apart from the ones her brother has :)  It is funny how girls get attached to pink and all things Barbie and princess related.
After seeing this Barbie signature stamp, even I wanted to open up all the eggs that were wrapped in pink just to see the Barbie toys.  I have asked permission from my daughter to use this cool stamp :)
My son was super excited that the Hot Wheels pack of Kinder® Surprise® contains his favourite super cute racing cars.  He has already opened a few but hasn't got what he is hoping for yet!  If I hadn't put the rule about one egg per day ;) I am sure he would have opened all the eggs in one day.

It is funny how girls will be girls and boys will be boys.  From a young age when I watch my children play I see how they have automatically learned to differentiate boys and girls toys.  Even their approach of handling and playing with the toys are different and interesting.
Due to the awaiting surprise and cool toys inside Kinder, I have noticed my children are willing to share the chocolate with us just so they can open as many Kinder chocolates as possible.  I think they love Kinder more for the purpose of having a collection of Kinder toys, which I think will make good memories as they grow up :)

Contest:
To launch these cool Kinder® Surprise® Barbie™ and Hot Wheels™packs, Kinder® Canada will be giving away 40 prize packs in their Facebook starting on January 10th for 4 weeks.
Simply become a fan of Kinder® Canada and follow the instructions on their Facebook.

An animated series based on Hasbro's Littlest Pet Shop

My children really enjoyed watching Littlest Pet Shop: Little Pets, Big Adventure.  This is the first DVD collection based on Hasbro's popular Littlest Pet Shop brand toys.
This new animated series has five fun episodes that will entertain children.  The DVD also has bonus features such as colouring sheets, "A look behind the pet shop doors" and an offer for a virtual collectable pet on the Littlest Pet Shop App.

This animated comedy series follows Blythe Baxter and her father as they move into a Big City apartment above the Littlest Pet Shop store.  The store has an amazing day camp for pets of all kinds including a doggie diva, dancing gecko, a sweet, adorable panda and others.  The real adventure begins when Blythe discovers that she can understand and talk to all of the pets. Blythe joins the pets on fantastical adventures that include uproarious song and dance sequences.

My children really enjoyed the show as they told me how funny it was.  My son thought it was quite funny because the animals were talking and he was laughing when he told me that his favourite part was when the hedgehog rolled down.
Your children will enjoy this DVD too, so don't forget to preorder it through Amazon as it will be available on January 15th.

Play-doh Buster Digging Riggs Power Crane

Buster power crane from Tonka, Chuck & Friends is a fun toy that children will easily spend hours playing.  My son enjoys playing this Digging Riggs Power Crane with his sister.
They like building and creating a wide variety of construction type models using the colourful 12 oz play-doh that comes in black, grey, brown and red.  The colours resemble the things that we see in the construction zones.
This power crane has 10 tools such as the drill bit, roller, moulds, wrecking ball, stamps that fit into the crane.  My children use the tools to make blocks, tolls, mud, polls etc.  They also used the tires on the crane to make prints.
Children can make a variety of models with this toy depending on their age and skills.  This toy includes 2 AA batteries for light and sounds.  This toy is intended for children over 3 years.
Children will be able to show their creative skills and practice their fine motor skills with this toy.  These type of toys help children to identify and relate to things they see in real life such as in the construction zone.

Traditions of giving and LEGO DUPLO toys for our readers

When the year comes to an end and the holidays are nearing many of us start to think of other people and spread the holiday cheer by sharing and giving.  I believe we have to think of those in need and the less fortunate all year round and help in anyway we can by giving money, food, clothes or spend our time to better their lives.

Maplelea Girls is an award-winning collection of Canadian dolls that inspire Canadian pride.  In addition to dolls, clothes, shoes, accessories and pets designed for each of the six regionally based Maplelea Girls from Nova Scotia to Nunavut, they also have 12 Maplelea Friends.

Canada’s diversity is amply represented in this new Maplelea Friendswhich offers dolls with a wide variety of hair, eye and skin tones to choose from.  Maplelea Friends come dressed in a cute graphic tee and a corduroy skirt, striped footless tights and silver shoes with a cutout maple leaf detail.  Like all Maplelea dolls, this doll measures 18" tall with a soft body, posable arms and legs and eyes that open and close.  Each of the 12 styles arrive in a decorative storage box that can used to keep all the doll's accessories.  The doll comes with a 64 page journal that has prompts and questions to help children create the doll's story.
