Stratford Ontario, a quaint little town couple of hours from Toronto, is perfect for a weekend getaway or an impromptu road trip. Theatre is what has always attracted us to Stratford, but once you are there the serene atmosphere by the river, beautiful gardens, and all the little retail shops and restaurants around town will surely keep everyone in the family busy.

Having clean air to breathe in our car is as important as clean air in our home. A lot of people take this for granted and you will be surprised how dirty the air is inside our cars if we fail to change the cabin air filter in our vehicles. Since we will be spending a lot of time in our cars traveling this summer, it is vital to have clean fresh air inside the cabin.

How To Stay In The Loop When You Are Travelling
Although a big part of traveling is to get away from the everyday routine, it is important to try and stay involved and in the loop while away. Whether it’s missing opportunities in the workplace or big family news, it is easy to feel out of the loop when travelling if we don't make the effort to stay updated.

Winter Adventure at Scenic Caves
We had a fantastic time at Scenic Caves doing a variety of fun family friendly winter activities like snowshoeing to the Suspension Bridge, and learning and practicing to Cross-Country ski. Over the years we have learned to embrace winter by learning new sports and activities, so we can look forward to enjoy the long winters. Scenic Caves located in Collingwood, a couple of hours from Toronto, is a wonderful place to try these winter activities. We like that they have different trails giving us the option to choose depending on trail distance and skill. There is still a few more weeks to enjoy these sports before the season comes to an end - see their website for details.

Learning the origins of board games, illusions, journey, and math
We love playing board games and have a few family favourites. As children, we have played lots of different board games from monopoly to mancala, and made sure to introduce our children to board games at a very young age. A few years ago, we made a wooden convertible storage cart just to keep our games. We believe most board games are a wonderful way to socialize and connect, and they have become part of our lifestyle. Over the past decade, we have documented a few board games on CreateWithMom. When we saw the Board Games in 100 Moves by Ian Livingstone, we were curious to discover different board games and their origins.

Holiday Inn at Shaw Festival
We loved watching Holiday Inn at Shaw Festival. As director, Kate Hennig notes in a world plagued by anxiety and fear we feel guilty to enjoy simple pleasures like looking at the blue skies, going for an old-fashioned walk, enjoying the holidays. This musical reminds us to take the time to be happy in our pursuit of happiness!

Festive Season in Stratford, Ontario
We love the festive season because it is not only a time for families and friends to gather in celebration of the end of a year, but also a time to admire the coziness, beauty, and magical time of winter. Just in time for the holiday season, we spent a weekend at The River Merchant Inn located in Stratford, Ontario to enjoy the Holiday Light displays, Outdoor Christmas Market, Santa’s Parade of Lights, and to go on the Christmas and Chocolate Trails.

The 2019 Mazda6 Experience
We gave the all new 2019 Mazda6 a go recently and here are our thoughts. If you owned a Mazda6 from the past 5 years you wouldn't notice a drastic change in design. Instead, Mazda has added more power, tech, and subtle tweaks to the exterior design to keep this popular mid-sized family sedan in check with the competition.

Interactive Learning at Science North and Dynamic Earth in Sudbury
This summer we spent a couple of days exploring Sudbury in Northeastern Ontario, the famous Big Nickel! When the giant meteorite struck 1.85 billion years ago in the Sudbury region, it had created an ore-bearing impact structure, one of the world's most famous geological features. This is why this region has one of the largest concentrations of mines in the world. We loved exploring two famous attractions, the Science North and Dynamic Earth, as well as other family fun attractions in the area.

Stepping back to the past, farming, and family adventure in Leamington
During our visit to Leamington we had a few interesting experiences. We stepped back into the past when we visited John R. Park Homestead and Point Pelee National Park. Then we had a family adventure at Colasanti's, and learned all about farming at Lee and Maria's farm walking tour. While we explored the area we enjoyed delicious meals at Freddy's restaurant and Bradt's Butcher Block, and went to Sweet Retreat for ice cream.

The Horse and His Boy at the Shaw Festival
Going to the Shaw Festival in Niagara-on-the-lake would make a memorable weekend getaway or a day trip. Every year there is a show that is perfect for families with young children and teenagers. This year it is The Horse and His Boy based on C.S. Lewis's The Chronicles of Narnia. Last year, we watched the Magician's Nephew also based on the children's fantasy novel Narnia. My children have read the novels and watched a few of the movies, they were excited to see how the story would be acted on stage.
