The weather is finally warm and we have spent most of our time preparing the garden. DK books Self-Sufficiency for the 21st Century and Indoor Edible Garden has inspired us to do a few projects this spring like building a compost bin and getting our seeds started indoors.

During the past few weeks, I have taken time to look through cookbooks and get inspired to make a variety of food. We checked out three DK books - Raw Food, The Sicily Cookbook, and The Soup Book.

We have been learning a lot of facts about influential people from the past that still impact our lives from a variety of DK books: The 100 women who made history, Explorers, and books from the DK Life Stories series. These books deliver the facts in a fun manner using colourful images to keep the readers engaged.

Exploring Space, Stars and the Moon

In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the first human to step on the moon, the Ontario Science Centre and the Aga Khan Museum have must explore exhibits. During our recent visit to the Ontario Science Centre we explored the space themed exhibitions; Astronaut and Women in Space exhibits. We also learned from The Moon: A voyage through time exhibit at the Aga Khan museum.  

Learn a new language with DK Language titles

We believe knowing more than one language is a gift, it makes you better understand everything around you and appreciate it more. It is never too late to learn a new language - so we checked out a few DK Language titles. Each of these books have a similar format so we can spend 15 minutes each day, and learn to speak, write, and understand in 12 weeks.

DK Canada Smithsonian books dedicated to a variety of topics are handy to have in any study space, as it explains complex topics in a fun and easy to understand format for children and adults. These books have made us gain interest in different subjects because of its clear illustrations and simple explanations.
