Tilley apparel goes anywhere

Tilley apparel has existed for over 30 years.  Over these years they have evolved because of their committed focus on innovation, fabrics and design.  The team at Tilley are constantly looking for the latest engineered modern fabrications that make durable, versatile, easy to wear and care clothes and accessories that are also trendy and fashionable.

With Tilley apparel we can travel light with one bag.  My father-in-law is a frequent traveler that sticks to his policy of travelling light and with only one bag; this is something I always hear from him as he encourages us to do the same :)  I agree with him and believe that when travelling we should be comfortable and clothes should be the last thing on the worry list.  Having clothes that we can trust, which will not tear or wear easy is the best way to not worry about clothes :)

Tilley Endurables started in 1980 by Alex Tilley after he developed the original Tilley Hat (T1).  Alex Tilley is a self-employed art consultant and avid sailor who made this T1 hat because he was tired of his sailing hats getting blown off his head, sinking and shrinking.
All the clothing and hats except for the TF2 Fur Felt Fedora hat and socks are made in Canada.  Although this TF2 Fur Felt Fedora hat and socks are made in the US, they follow the specifications of Tilley's standards.  When I browsed through the clothing at Tilley Endurables I liked the quality and collection of the lightweight clothing and the idea of wearing the same clothes in different ways.  These clothes are supposed to be comfortable to wear for travel and for everyday use.
I found the prices a little on the expensive side, but I guess we pay a little more as an investment for the quality of the products.  Tilley stands behind its quality and guarantee us that all their hats expect the Raffia and clothing such as their Drummer Legends items are guaranteed for life and the socks are guaranteed to be hole free for 3 years.  Since Tilley products are durable and washable, they are environmentally friendly and sustainable.

Tilley donates discontinued fabrics to NGOs to use for other projects. Every holiday season, Tilley has a tradition of supporting the Sir Edmund Hilary Foundation that is dedicated to help improve the lives of the Sherpa people in Nepal, and they sell the Baby Yeti soft toy for $7 and the Mom and Dad Yetis for $14 each.
There are lots of unique features in the fabric that Tilley uses in their products, however features vary depending on the clothing and apparel.  Some of the features include fast drying, wrinkle resistant, lightweight, water repellent, washable, colour fastness, UV rated at UPF 50+ which is the maximum rating that offers sun protection etc.  Tilley products are designed by an in-house team that is inspired by travel trends and suggestions from customers i.e. their Intrepid bag with the brown vintage, hand-distressed leather and Italian buckles was based on a WWII bag suggested by a client.

I liked the spacious layout and creative decor throughout the store as there are photographs, wooden carvings and other unique things from around the world that are interesting to look at.  I like the unique style of the fitting rooms as each room had a name of a country on the outside and inside there was a scenic picture from the country mentioned.
Although Tilley is mostly known for travel clothing, they are moving from this and making fashionable clothes for everyday wear for all types of body shapes and sizes so Tilley products are appealing to globetrotters and backyard adventures alike.  They are the leading manufacture of high quality hats in Canada and across the globe.  There are seven family owned stores in Canada and more than 2600 retailers in 18 countries sell their hats.

Redesigned Old Navy store at the Toronto Eaton Centre

Women's section
We were invited to check out the newly remodeled Old Navy Store at the Toronto Eaton Centre.  The store was brightly redesigned.  The layout made it easy for us to look and shop for things we want and need :)
Men's section
I liked how the store was spaciously and neatly divided into women, girls, boys, men and baby wear.  There also had an expanded maternity assortment section.
Maternity and toddler baby section
I was really attracted to the fashionable collection of costume jewelry at the Old Navy store.
Fashion jewelry
I think this redesign is productive because we can find things easily and shop without waiting to ask for assistance.  Having the products easy to browse is helpful when shopping with young children and especially when we are limited with time.
Shoes for all different seasons

The fitting rooms and the cashiers are in the center of the store, which is convenient and a good meeting place when shopping with friends and family members :)  Old Navy has "pop in" rooms, which is a thoughtful part of the design as we can quickly try the clothes on our children before buying it and don't have to wait for a fitting room to become available.
Children's section
They also have an interactive play space for the little ones.  At the event my children spent time in this area colouring, which kept them happy and busy.
My children were making sure to colour inside the lines for a contest
The new signage in the store is clear and lets us know when there are promotions, values and other things happening at the store.  Old Navy has everything from clothes to accessories for the entire family, which makes it easy for us to shop throughout the year.

Get ready for winter with Pediped

Get ready for winter with reliable boots for children from Pediped. We want our children to be as active as they can during any weather, especially in winter. To be active and enjoy, I think it is important that children have proper footwear.

Pediped meets all the things we as parents demand :) and their shoes are approved by the American Podiatric Medical Association. Pediped footwear are made with quality products that will keep our children's feet protected, comfortable and warm. Pediped has a variety of boots that are stylish, so children will not refuse to wear :)
I like that Pediped puts a lot of thought into their products as they only make footwear for children's growing feet. This Flex Cruz Pediped boots was my son's first choice because it has his favourite colour red. These boots are waterproof and withstands temperatures as cold as -20C. The cushioned insole makes the boots feel real cozy and protects the feet from frostbites. My son eagerly wears these Pediped boots as the weather has been chilly and windy.
These shoes are lightweight and durable, which allows children to be active. I found the Flex Fit System in the boots useful as it gives an additional insole that can be inserted for a snug fit and can be removed as our children's feet grow.
I am very happy that these boots have slip-resistant flexible soles, which are not stiff so children can move their feet naturally without trouble. It is also easy to clean and maintain the boots.

These Pediped boots are made with a combination of water-resistant leather and nylon material. I am glad that the boots have velcro, which makes it easy for my little one to put and remove on his own especially at school. The fabulous collection of Pediped boots can be bought at these retail stores or online.

Canada Goose will keep us warm in the harshest of cold climates

Canada Goose has been proudly manufacturing jackets for over 50 years in Canada.  I totally think they understand all the features we need in a jacket to stay warm during cold climates.  The authenticity, ingenuity and the years of manufacturing makes these jackets special.  All Canada Goose jackets have an Arctic disc symbol that depicts the features of the traditional Arctic map and creates a sense of community.
The vision of the Canada Goose jackets are born in the designing room, where about 56 pieces are needed for an average jacket to be perfectly mapped out, cut and sewn. The craftsmen at Canada Goose use a variety of tools, including the Fedlock Dual feed sewing machine from the late 1920s to make these extraordinary outerwear.  The whole process of creating the jackets are monitored by experienced, skilled people that have been a part of the Canada Goose team for over 25 years.  They make sure no thread is overlooked as they inspect each jacket by hand to meet the highest standards of craftsmanship.

Each ounce of down used in the jackets are about 2 million fluffy filaments that interlock and overlap to create insulating pockets of air, which will keep us warm in the harshest of cold weather.  The down is used from the poultry industry, so no birds are harmed for the purpose of getting the feather.  Canada Goose only uses hypo-allergenic, lab-tested feathers and down from the Feather Industries approved vendors so all policies, philosophical and ethical positions are shared.  I don't own a Canada Goose jacket, however when I wore a variety of jackets at the Canada Goose 2012 Fall & Winter fashion collection event held in Toronto, I felt the coziness and comfort of these jackets.  Canada Goose says, that if we care for our jackets well it will last for generations.
Most Canada Goose jackets have Canadian coyote fur around the hoods for functional purposes and not for fashion.  Canada Goose spokesperson said, the reason they have always used coyote fur in their hoods are because it doesn't hold water, never freezes and the uneven length of hair on the fur creates a windbreak protecting our skin and face from frostbite.  Canada Goose will continue to use coyote fur in some of their jacket hoods for functional purposes and also because this supports sustainable industry and the way Canadian aboriginal communities in the North live.  If you are not into the fur and will not need the fur, there is an option to remove it or buy Canada Goose jackets that don't have the fur.
The jackets are lightweight and perfectly stitched, as I didn't see any feather plucking out.  The fashionable and functional designs are well thought-out, which makes the jackets ideal for all types of winter activities.  There were a variety of jacket choices for us to choose from i.e. different colour, designs and lengths... but I instantly fell for the berry coloured, knee length jacket :) I like the special features of the jackets such as the extra long fleece lined stretch cuffs that have thumb holes.

Canada Goose has a wide collection of jackets for men, women and children to suit all types of lifestyles.  Canada Goose also has quality accessories such as headwear, neckwear, gloves, scarves, mitts etc... that we all need during the season.  I really like their 100% knit cozy merino wool scarf, which is already keeping me warm.

These jackets sold all over the world keep many people from freezing during the harsh cold climates.  When buying Canada Goose make sure it is authentic because there are lots of counterfeits.  Here is a link to the online stores and retailers.

White Cashmere Collection was revealed in celebration of Fashion with Compassion to raise awareness for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.
We can contribute to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation by casting a vote for our favourite dress. For every vote, Cashmere will donate $1, up to $10,000, in the winning designer's name.
To vote, all you have to do is visit votecouture.ca or Facebook.com/Cashmere and select your favourite design.  All voters will be entered into a draw for a chance to win one of four $2,500 shopping sprees.
Recent research conducted by Kruger Products show that people want to buy green products, but they rarely actually buy.  Many people are confused about what elements differentiate truly 'green' products from the ones that claim to be 'green', therefore not knowing what to trust as credible.  Here is a link of the results from the research.

Cleava Snap-To-Bra Mock Camisole giveaway

Cleava is a Snap-To-Bra Mock Camisole that is functional and fashionable.  It is easy to put it on and remove without taking off the shirt.  Cleava comes in one size that fits most as it snaps to our bra and gives a layered look.

I like wearing Cleava as it is modest and comfortable even when worn for long periods of time.  The material is soft as it is made with 92% polyester and 8% spandex that keeps us cool and expands.  There are 3 snap buttons to adjust from right, left and bottom.  Here is a video about Cleava.  It is easy to wash the plain ones in the machine and dry it in the dryer.

Bennetts Designer Boots

Do you love wearing boots, but can't seem to find good looking boots that are knee high?  Look no more, as these boots from Bennetts Boots will make us look tall and slim by camouflaging the right areas.  I like how beautifully it fits and the comfort of wearing the boots.  Bennetts Boots are uniquely designed for people with wide calves and curvy legs/ankles.

Bennetts Boots found in 2007 by Amanda Bennetts is world leading Australian company that specializes in wide calf boots.  Amanda came up with these boots as she couldn't find boots to fit her calves and was a frustrated with fashion industry that created boots only to a certain size.

This Jude boots from Bennett Boots has a heel height flat, which I like.  It comes in black and chocolate.  The full length zip allows us to wear the boots with ease and there is no need to squeeze the legs into the boots :)  I have got wonderful compliments, while wearing these cute boots.  This pair of Jude flat boots is in riding style and goes well with pants or skirts.  I wore the boots for a long period of time and it was comfortable.  The boots are light, flexible and have a lovely soft blue lining with anti-perspiration and anti-smell qualities.  There are no elastics to worry about.

The boots are stitched by hand with genuine leather.  They use leather as it is comfortable, absorbs moisture and breathes.  Leather protects the foot and also shapes it self to the foot and calf.  Napa leather is used for the upper part of the boots, as it is good quality, lightweight, strong and the softest leather that comes from the Napa cow.  They use full grain or top grain leather, as it is the strong part of the hide, which is durable.  This natural form of leather is expensive and has no polishing or finish done to it.  Cowhide is used in different weights and cuts.  Pigskin hide is used in the inner sole.  I removed the pigskin hide and replaced it with my own orthotics because of religious reasons and still find the boots very comfortable.

If we care well for these boots it will last long.  The boots come with guidelines on how to care for the leather.  If we clean the boots with leather cream to nourish, condition and polish i.e. using products like Zorbel the boots will get an instant shine.
Using water and stain protector spray, and allowing the boots to naturally air dry are other ways we can take care of it.  The boot comes with shapers, so it is best to put these on when the boots are not worn, as this would prevent the boots from bending or having creases.  The boots also come with an extra heel so we can replace without cost, if needed.

There are a few stores in Australia and worldwide.  I like the new design and pictures on their site, which makes it is easy to buy online as they ship worldwide for free.  The sizing chart on the site is helpful in deciding the perfect fit.  There are wonderful collection of designs and choice of colour available.  I would like if Bennetts Boots mention the type of leather that are used in different parts of the boots.
If you follow Bennetts Boots on Twitter and Facebook you will be able to see their new collections and get to know about deals and coupons.

Mark's: Smart Clothes for Everyday Living

Mark's Work Wearhouse is rebranded now as Mark's because many people perceive Mark's to carry only work clothing that are mostly for men.  I like shopping at Mark's because they have a wide collection of casual clothing for men and women from underwear, outerwear, nightwear, footwear to accessories.

I like the practical decent clothing at Mark's, which is pretty hard to find in many stores these days.  The clothes are feminine, stylish and at the same time covers up :)  The quality, special features i.e. wrinkle free, and the functional aspects i.e tummy control etc are things that I like about the clothing from Mark's.
My husband too likes shopping at Mark's because of the wide selection of all types of clothing that have guaranteed quality.  Their clothing are durable, fade-resistant, have sub-zero insulation, some clothing are water resistant and despite many washes the clothes look new.

I enjoyed meeting Brad Goreski and others from Mark's at the Eaton Centre, Toronto a couple of weeks ago.  This location has a walk-in closet that is similar to a freezer, which stimulates winter weather conditions so we can wear the outerwear and test it.  The changing rooms are bigger and better lit.  The lighting is brighter with TV screens displaying the look-book and styles.  I find that the staff at all the Mark's location are helpful and know about the products, so we can ask them and let them know what we are looking for and to get the correct size etc.  There is always something at Mark's that I like and am looking forward to see the Fall collection a little more closely :)

HairThingz giveaway

My daughter enjoyed wearing these HairThingz and liked hearing a lot of compliments about how pretty it looked.  Many of her friends wanted to know where to get these unique, stylish hair accessory.

My daughter is not a person who likes having hair accessories on for a long period of time, however she enjoyed having these HairThingz on her hair as it didn't bother her.  HairThingz stay put despite all the running, jumping and cartwheels :) without sliding or loosening; this is a big bonus as we don't have to keep adjusting the hair.  HairThingz keeps the hair neatly away from the face.  It is waterproof and is wonderful to have on while swimming.

We can layer, link, stretch and twist the HairThingz.  All we have to do is twist the parts of the hair we want to insert the accessory in and put it any way we like.
Even when HairThingz are removed after several hours, it retains its original spiral shape so we can use it again.  The package comes with basic instructions and styles.  There are many different styles we can use the HairThingz; it is only limited by our imagination.
It is easy to remove as this accessory doesn't tug or damage the hair, when used carefully.

We like the pretty colours these cute fun tube-like hair accessories come in.  There are 4 different themed packages; pretty princess, Sunburst, Super Star and Cupcake.  Each package has 12 pieces with 4 different colours.  HairThingz are made in USA with safe quality plastic that is free of BPA and heavy metals, which will not chip, crack or break.

SmartKnit Kids giveaway

SmartKnit Kids seamless cozy socks are truly seamless and wouldn't bother anyone.  We found these socks comfortable because it is super soft.  I really like how it is designed, it is perfect for sensitive feet.  The socks are form fitting that "hug" the feet to prevent bunching in the socks.  The top is non-binding and fits comfortably without slipping down.  The wicks keep our feet dry and healthy without producing odour.
It is made in USA with 97.3% polyester and 2.7% lycra.  They have ankle, crew and knee high socks for children.  The socks are available in different colours for children and comes in black for adults in S, M, L (shoe size 5 to 11+).  The socks have no heels in the design, which is a feature that I like.  The socks are accepted by the American Podiatric Medical Association.  My children liked the cute pictures of Bugsley that was inside the socks package.

SmartKnit Kids also have seamless under wears for boys and girls.  The undies don't have seams, binding or elastic bands.  It comes in S, M, L (size 4 to 12) for boys and girls.  It is soft and comfortable.  My daughter was surprised about the thickness of the underwear material, I told her it was  thick so her bottom will be kept warm in winter :)

Eye examinations and Eyes cream shades

It is recommend by paediatricians to do an annual eye exam for our children, and it is a good idea to put this on the "back to school" checklist.  Healthy eyes are an important part of children's development.  Most optometrists check and do routine yearly exams for children over the age of 3, as soon as they can recognize pictures and tell.

According to the IRIS optometrists, since the provincial health plan covers eye examination for children they recommend us to take our children young as one for an annual eye examination until they are twenty years; after 20 years it is recommended every 1 to 2 years.

It is also important for us, as parents to make sure our children's eyes are protected from UVA and UVB rays at an early age.  Eyes cream shades has a cute quality collection of shades for children over the age of 6 months.

This Sporty Gradient "Blueberry Ice" sunglasses will look cool on both girls and boys.  Children will enjoy wearing this pair of sunglasses, which has a blue to clear gradient frame and light blue polycarbonate lenses.  The light and thin shatter resistant lens is perfect for young children.
Children will enjoy wearing these cool shades without a fuss because of its comfort.
I like the new sizing chart on their site, very helpful in making a decision when we get shades for children. Eyes cream shades has joined Bright Sky UV, to protect the entire family from harmful UV rays with their collection of sun wear made with Pro Tek fabric.

Moroccan bangles and jewellery tips

One of my favourite pieces of jewelry are bangles and bracelets. I like the variety of unique jewelry designs at Housewives Jewelry. This beautiful Moroccan bangle set has a fun mix of 8 bangles made with enamel, brass, wood, glass and faux ivory bracelets.  I like the idea of wearing either all the bangles together, a few at a time or one at time.  These bangles are comfortable and strong, as it didn't bend when I wore them.  I also received lovely compliments about its beautiful design.

Holy clothing: Long flowing top blouse

This Bohemian chic Melodie blouse from Holy clothing is beautiful, comfortable and soft.  This top comes up to my thigh and it can be worn with pants or skirts.  The top is made with 100% viscose rayon material, which is cuddly soft :)  I am happy that the material is not see-through, which is very hard to find these days.

The embroidery on this burgundy or ruby red shirt is beautifully detailed.  The front of the shirt has full length matching buttons and the back has a ribbon to tie the blouse tight or loose as we wish.  The stitching is professionally done in India.  This top is airy and beautiful to wear for any occasion.

Although the garments are pre-washed it is advised we wash it before wearing.  The shirt can be easily machine washed in cold water under delicate cycle or hand washed.  It is better to hang dry to maintain the hand-dyed vibrant colour.  This melodie top is available in black, brown, burgundy, purple and green.

I like the beautiful choices of handmade garments on their site. The choice of tops, dresses, skirts, and pants are unique.  These feminine clothes are available from small size to 5X.  I was happy to see the range of long sleeved clothing that is available :)  I found it easy to surf the site and find clothes that suits my taste; actually found a few that I really like :) The clothes are shipped worldwide. They ship it the next day we order it.
