Keeping out the bugs with Thermacell
We recently tested the new Thermacell range of non-spray bug repellents, which are now available in Canada. Thermacell products have come in handy for us this summer as we were able to repel pesky mosquitos within a 15x15 foot zone. We like this repellent because there is no messy lotions, odours, noise, DEET, or open flames involved and the products use the same ingredients that make chrysanthemum flowers deter insects. All Thermacell products have been approved by the EPA for safety and effectiveness.

Pottery Painting at Crock a Doodle
We were excited to drop-in at Crock a Doodle in Niagara Falls for an afternoon of fun. This pottery themed creative space with friendly staff made us feel welcomed. This studio is setup in a way that makes it comfortable for children to sit down and paint. For adults, it gives an opportunity to let go of everything and be a kid again. We loved it!

Reading on the Kobo Clara
My family and I love reading books - we regularly use our first e-reader Kobo Glo HD since 2015 and our Kobo Aura H2O since 2016 to read while at home and when we are travelling. This year, we are excited to have been introduced to Kobo Clara HD - the lightweight 6" HD display with built-in ComfortLight PRO and blue light reducing technology that offers the best reading experience day or night.

This Month's Reads - Adventure books for Young Adults and Slowing Down our Lifestyle
Escape by Linwood Barclay is a kid-friendly juvenile fiction. It is very adventurous and full of drama. It is about a boy named Jeff Conroy and with his high-tech partner “Chipper”, who is a dog running from the sinister organization, “The Institute”, which created Chipper. Jeff Conroy's parents, Edwin and Patricia Conroy had died in a plane crash while trying to reveal the Institutes secrets of creating high-tech children, just as they had done with dogs. Now both Jeff and Chipper are constantly running from the Institute. We recommend this book for all ages.

Painting on Glass with Americana Gloss Enamels
I thoroughly enjoyed doing this wall display on an old glass picture frame. Prior to starting the project, I cleaned the glass with rubbing alcohol. Once the surface air dried, I drew a Mandala themed design using a black DecoArt Glass paint marker.

Bilal A New Breed Of Hero
The story "Bilal: A New Breed Of Hero" is inspired by the true events of the African slave Bilal ibn Rabah. This movie will teach many lessons to children and adults. It is full of adventure and shows us the importance of having the courage to step up within our communities as teachers and leaders and seek greater understanding and knowledge of the world around us. We must be open and willing to accept new ways of thinking if we hope to change the world for the better.

Getting Ready for School and Rearranging Our Workspace
It is very important for children and adults alike to setup a separate space to either do homework or office work without distractions. We have a dedicated room to study, work, and practice our creative flow. We spruced up our creative corner by adding a couple of office and school furniture from Canadian Tire. The CANVAS brand Blair office chair and the Clara desk go well together and bring a whole different, refreshing feel to the room.
