A day well spent in Windsor-Essex - Adventure and Relaxation

During our recent travels to Windsor-Essex, we took a trip to Peche Island and then enjoyed lunch at Healthy Mama before heading to the Adventure Bay Waterpark and checking in at Holiday Inn Express Windsor Waterfront. We ended our evening with a delicious meal at Paramount Windsor and strolled by the waterfront to watch the sunset over the Detroit river. 

Painting Plant Pots

Easy projects that can be done within a few hours, which transforms a space to feel creative and fresh are our favourite type of DIY projects. This summer, we painted most of our plastic planting pots with Americana decor outdoor living paint. This specially designed acrylic paint can be used for interior and exterior home decor projects. This eggshell finish weather resistant paint is smell free and easy to work with.

DecoArt Galaxy Glitter helps us add sparkle to our projects without making a big glitter mess. I like these brush on glitter acrylic to add shimmer and shine to our projects and home décor accents. I enjoyed doing this painting on canvas with a variety of different acrylic colours and galaxy glitter acrylic paint.

Exploring Space, Stars and the Moon

In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the first human to step on the moon, the Ontario Science Centre and the Aga Khan Museum have must explore exhibits. During our recent visit to the Ontario Science Centre we explored the space themed exhibitions; Astronaut and Women in Space exhibits. We also learned from The Moon: A voyage through time exhibit at the Aga Khan museum.  

Home Decor Embroidered Cushion

Debra Valencia, pattern artist and author of the book Embroidered Lettering: Techniques and Alphabets for Creating 25 Expressive Projects, says, "One reason hand stitching lettering and inspirational phrases have become so popular because it helps soothe people in today's high-stress environment." This book has unique embroidery lettering projects that feature heartfelt sentiments and witty statements. I replicated a design from this book for a cushion cover.

Exploring theatre and the arts in Stratford, Ontario is always a pleasurable experience for the entire family. Last summer, when we went to see the play The Music Man we also toured the Costume Warehouse. This year, we watched the musical Billy Elliot, and enjoyed a tour of the garden and a set changeover tour.
