Healthy School and After-School Snacks and Giveaway

hans dairy yogurt salad
I always plan on what healthy school snacks I can prepare at home, and keep it ready for my children to enjoy after school. I also try to make sure the snacks they have are nutritious. Although, I love to make a different snack everyday, our on-the-go schedules don't give me time for this. On these days, I love the convenience of having delicious Hans Dairy snacks in the fridge. The Indian style rice pudding, lassi, and yogurt from Hans Dairy is one of our favourites; we can enjoy as is or by adding fresh fruits and berries.

Help Your Body Cool Down this Summer with Hans Dairy Products

hans dairy
My grandma always reminds me about the ample benefits of yogurt; for example it helps cool our body, strengthen the immune system, and aids digestion. In our family, we have lots of yogurt in different forms - from making side dishes like raita, or including it in beverages and desserts to adding it to meals when we cook and bake.

Our Opa Moments With Yopa and $100 Giveaway

Every celebration big or small is celebrated with something sweet in our home. I love to bake and make my sweets whenever possible, however due to the lack of time I like having yummy, healthy desserts and snacks in the fridge. I think every meal to be complete, needs a little sweet snack or dessert and Yopa has made this list in our home.

Win a prize pack to stay fit and healthy (value of over $100)

General Mills family is welcoming Yoplait Source Greek Yogurt, which is a thick, creamy, delicious low-calorie yogurt the whole family will enjoy. This yogurt has twice the protein of regular Yoplait Source yogurt with only 50 calories and no added sugar.
There are different yogurt flavours for us to choose from. We can enjoy it for breakfast, snack, and dessert or include it in our baking and cooking. I like using yogurt in desserts as it is a healthier substitute and I also include plain greek yogurt to thicken curries and to give it flavour. I make this choice of using yogurt in our diets so we can stay healthy and active.
I use the plain yogurt when making this naan, baked Indian bread

Cheesecake made with yogurt

I tasted the delicious variety of The Greek Gods yogurt.  This yogurt is tasty just on its own.  It is also delicious in dips, soup, main course, with vegetables and in desserts.  There are lots of recipes on their site for us to try.
The higher milk fat and the manufacturing process makes this yogurt to have a smooth creamier texture that is different from the other traditional yogurts.  The yogurts are made with organic ingredients.  My children felt as through it was frozen ice cream because of its delicious texture and flavour.

We liked the taste of the traditional plain, honey flavoured, honey strawberry and honey vanilla yogurt as it was unique and flavourful.  This yogurt is a good source of calcium, which is made with fresh pasteurized milk and cream.  The active cultures, probiotics, calcium and vitamin D makes the yogurt a good source for everyone.  Numerous scientific studies have shown the live and active cultures are beneficial bacteria that naturally resides in our digestive health and protects us against number of ailments.  This yogurt contains 5 active cultures; S. thermopiles, L. bulgaricus, L. acidophilus, Bifidus and L. case.
This yogurt is available at Whole Foods Ontario, Highland Farms Ontatio, and 98/155 Metro ON stores (in the Natural Dairy Section).

Yogurt is more easily digested even by people who are lactose intolerant.  If people have stomach discomfort, yogurt will ease their stomach.  Children who suffer from diarrhea recover faster when fed yogurt with probiotic cultures.  Research shows yogurt helps reduce the risk of cancer.

Yogurt Cheesecake
For the crust
1 tbsp melted butter
crushed oreo cookies or graham crackers

Mix the crushed cookies with the butter and refrigerate it for about 10 to 15 minutes or longer until the cheesecake filling is ready.

For the cheesecake
1 1/2 cups Greek honey vanilla yogurt
1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 tbsp flour
1/8 tsp baking powder

Beat the sugar and egg till creamy, then add the yogurt and flour baking powder mixture.  Pour over the crust and bake for 30 to 35 minutes in a 350F preheated oven.  I kept a bowl of water in the oven so the  cheesecake wouldn't dry fast.
Chill overnight or over 3 to 4 hours before serving.

Yoplait giveaway

Yoplait is a Canadian company that has been around since 1971.  They have a variety of flavourful yogurt options for children and adults.  It is healthy to make it a habit/routine to have yogurt throughout the year.  Since Yoplait has a wide variety, we won't get bored eating the same thing everyday.
We tasted the delicious Yoplait kids products; Yop, Minigo and Tubes because these do not contain gelatine or artificial sweeteners.  These products are a good source of calcium and Vitamin.  My children and we enjoyed the flavourful portions of Yop, Minigo and Yoplait Tubes.

Yoplait Source has 30 flavours, 35 calories per serving and 0% fat and 0 sugar added.  Yoplait Yoptimal has 40% more fruit than other brands and 2 probiotics.  Yoplait Source and Yoptimal have beef gelatine, so I didn't taste both of these products because I prefer yogurt without the gelatine.
