Although, my family and I continue to look for simplicity in the food we consume daily, it is quite difficult to know about all the different ingredients that go into basic kitchen supplies like margarine. Mainly because of this reason, a few years ago I completely stopped using margarine and used butter instead as it is easier to tell what goes into butter. Recently, I got a chance to attend the launch of Becel made with simpler ingredients and learn how margarine is made, as well as ask questions that have changed my perspective about margarine.

With a new year comes many reminders for us to make new resolutions! However, I like making goals and resolutions throughout the year. Incorporating meals from different cuisines is an exciting way to start of 2016, so I explored Ramen dishes from Japanese cuisine. I learned a lot about these dishes from the DK Ramen Fusion Cookbook by Nell Benton and from watching The Mind of a Chef Season 1 Episode 1 on Netflix.

A recent Shoppers Drug Mart Flu Poll found that 51% of Canadians believe the best way to protect our self from flu is by eating well. I believe having balanced meals helps us maintain immune function, and good health so I try to make a variety of healthier dishes for my family and I. I love to make our dishes colourful and especially make it a point to do this in the winter.

With Kissan products, we can spice it up and make Indian food at home easily. As a foodie that loves to cook and bake, I think the quality of the ingredients makes a big difference on how our food turns out. I have been using a variety of Kissan products like their spices and sauces to make quick and delicious meals for my family that we all love.

Eating our fruits and vegetables are very important. With little ones serving up the fruits and vegetables in different ways encourage them to try it, and enjoy it. We tried a variety of Opadipity Greek Yogurt Dips by Litehouse Foods, which are the perfect snacks with low-calorie dips made with natural ingredients using zero preservatives, MSG or gluten. These dips are wonderful with a variety of vegetables.

I love the new wave of bright colours and cool shapes of kitchen items for the table from Trudeau. These products with the beautiful timeless appeal and functionality truly celebrates colour. My family and I love using these products everyday, and I am glad they have used organically coloured glass and sustainable wood, which is also good for the environment. I love how we can match our decor with these vibrant hues and bring excitement to our summer entertainment.

FunBites is a cool device that comes in handy when we prepare fancy dinner parties or kid-friendly food. Picky eaters will enjoy their meals more when it is cut up in small shapes and sizes. FunBites are sturdy and durable curved blade cutters that will help us cut fruit, sandwiches, quesadillas, and brownies. It is a quick way to cut shapes using this device than cutting it by hand.

It is important to take time to love ourselves and feel good. I enjoyed reading and going through DK's Natural Beauty book written by Susan Curtis, Fran Johnson, Pat Thomas, and Justine Jenkins. The book has lots of tips and techniques that we can use, and it encourages using easy to find, gentle products such as herbs, plants, and other kitchen ingredients to care for our skin and body.

I made our favourite banana bread, with an addition of sweetened desiccated coconut and chocolate chips in this Trudeau's structure loaf pan. This structure loaf pan is perfect to make bread cakes and meat loaves. Although, making this banana bread recipe in a loaf pan takes a little longer about 30 minutes, than if I were to make it in a muffin pan, I like that using this structure loaf pan cooks the cake evenly and releases the cake easily. I don't have to put parchment paper when I use this loaf pan.

My family and I really enjoyed watching the entertaining story of "The Hundred-Foot Journey," when it came out. We are glad that we can own a copy on Blu-ray™ and Digital HD, as it becomes available on December 2nd. This story based on the beloved, best-selling novel by Richard C. Morais is a flavorful tale of cultural differences, shared passions, and the unifying nature of food. It is the perfect gift for movie fans of all ages this holiday season.

Whether it is family breakfast or having an afternoon snack, it is always great to have easy, nutritional food choices for our children to enjoy. My children enjoy eating cereal mostly for breakfast, but occasionally they would eat it as snack as well. I really enjoy using the regular Kellogg's Rice Krispies to make snacks for my children, and find my inspiration for recipes from their site.

I made this hearty, flavourful stew in the Breville Risotto Plus cooker. I found it awesome that I can sauté, steam, make rice and risotto, as well as use it as a slow cook all in the same bowl with this Risotto Plus. I really like how the food caramelizes and cooks in the sauté mode, which I can then switch to either rice, steam, or risotto, or slow cook either in high or low setting all using the same bowl without additional work.
