Shaking up dinner with Cavendish potatoes and flash back of our PEI trip

Cavendish potatoes
Some days I have a hard time preparing a satisfying meal for dinner especially on busy days after work and school, so having something convenient to shake up our dinnertime is very helpful.

Having Cavendish From the Farm potato products such as the wedges, rustic reds and straight cut in the fridge makes it easy for me when I want to prepare a hearty meal in no time.

I like serving the potatoes with either a colourful salad, steamed vegetables, fish or meat to make it a complete meal.  This type of meal can be enjoyed during any season. There are lots of suggested ideas on the Cavendish Farms on how we can serve their products during any meal.
I baked the delicious Rustic Reds and served it with sautéed spinach, Oakrun Farm muffins and salmon.  I bought this marinated smoke flavour salmon from Costco that could be easily prepared in the microwave.

To sauté the spinach you will need...
1 large package of spinach about 4 cups
2 tbsp olive oil
2 tbsp onion
1 tbsp garlic chopped
1/2 tsp or more salt to taste
1/4 tsp or more red chillie flakes (can substitute pepper instead)
1 to 2 tbsp thick coconut milk optional

Heat the oil, sauté the onions and garlic.  Then add the spinach, salt and red chillie. Sauté till the spinach is cooked to your liking and then towards the end add coconut milk and mix it.  Increase the heat and let the water evaporate, as it shouldn't have gravy.

Cavendish, PEI is place that is close to our hearts and every time we think of Cavendish or eat the delicious potatoes from PEI it brings back good ol' memories of our summer vacation a couple of years ago. We enjoyed our stay at the Kindred Spirits cottage so we can be close to Anne of Green Gables in Cavendish. We love the atmosphere, peace and the feeling of home.
The beautiful red soil of PEI makes it an ideal place for delicious potatoes to grow.  Cavendish Farms only use PEI grown potatoes in their products. I believe what they say on their package is true, "there's something about PEI that makes potatoes delicious. Sunshine and gentle ocean breezes drench the land, nourishing the rich red soil with goodness."

My family and I really enjoy the flavours of these potatoes, as it tastes homely and fresh. They use canola oil and lightly season with sea salt so we don't have to add anything, just bake and serve.

These packages of Cavendish potatoes are low in saturated fat, trans fat and cholesterol free. As we know potatoes are high in Potassium, Vitamin C, Fibre and many other minerals and vitamins, in my opinion potatoes are a healthy choice to include in our diet.
These are pictures of my little ones helping to wash potatoes that they picked from a farm in Ontario. Nothing like digging the soil and smelling the beautiful fresh potatoes filled with rich earth, it makes us feel so thankful to God.

We love the healthy reasons and the ease of using Cavendish potatoes. For us knowing that it is grown and packaged in Canada is another satisfying reason to use Cavendish Farm products.

  2. I have to admit I have never tried this brand of potatoes. But after reading this review I am going to purchase some on my next grocery visit. I am going to try the rustic reds. They add color to the plate and make the meal more appetizing to look at. I also like that salt and oil are already added so there is no need to add anything.
