Boredom Busters

Summer days are longer giving us more time to do fun activities. It is also the perfect time to cool off and do hands on activities.
Gazillion Bubbles
Children will enjoy the Gazillion Bubbles. They have an array of premium bubble solution and innovative bubble toys and bubble machines that are sure to keep little ones entertained. We are enjoying the Gazillion Monsoon, which creates bubbles in a press of a button where children will love running around trying to catch the bubbles.

There is no pump, however it requires quite a lot of batteries, 8 AA batteries, which is not included. Once we attach the auto-feed valve cap to the solution bottle, insert the bottle into the spout, and push the button, we can watch the Monsoon of bubbles blow. The Gazillion Bubbles Monsoon includes an 8 oz. bottle of non-toxic Gazillion Bubbles solution. Appropriate for ages 3 years and up.
ocean meets sky book
Picture books for children
Ocean Meets Sky written by Eric Fan and Terry Fan is a beautiful story with stunning pictures. It is book about a young boy who sets sail in his dreams to find a place his grandfather once told him about, a place where the ocean meets the sky, where whales and jellyfish soar and birds and castles float. This book encourages children to use their imagination to go on wild adventures and interact with the world around them.
honey bee book
The Honeybee by Kirsten Hall and Isabelle Arsenault is the perfect book for children to see how important honeybees are and how we can welcome them to our garden. The storyline makes children curious to first guess what could be among the flowers. The colourful illustration teaches children the description of bees, what they do to produce honey, and how it gets attracted to flowers. The rhyming words are fun to read over and over. We love having bees in our garden, see what kind of DIY bee hotel we made for our garden
painting
Anywhere, Anytime Art series
Anywhere, Anytime Art series, will encourage us to get creative and take a fresh look at different art mediums such as crayon, watercolor, coloured pencils, and gouache. We checked out a couple of books in this series. These book teach us how to explore this medium by first introducing the basics, tools and materials, techniques, colour theory, and step by step projects we can practice with. The simple designs are perfect for children and beginners to practice painting and drawing.
Anywhere Anytime Art
The Anywhere, Anytime Art: Gouache book encourages us to do more painting with gouache, which is a dense and opaque  paint compared to watercolours, which is light and transparent.
Anywhere Anytime Art
The Anywhere, Anytime Art: Colored Pencil book is a playful guide to drawing with coloured pencils while travelling.

Crokinole
3 in 1 Kroeger board game
We love the 3 in 1 Kroeger board game where we can play Checkers, Crokinole, or Backgammon. This two sided octagon shaped wooden board measures 27" in diameter and has a depth of 1 3/16", large enough for 4 people to comfortably sit around either on the floor or around a table to play. The game comes with 30 wooden playing disks and the 2 dice in a plastic resealable bag, which makes it easy to put away after playing.

We are new to playing Crokinole, and we love it. It is a family friendly game of strategy that can be played with two or four players. The aim of the game is for players to flick their discs into the hole of the board or into higher value fields. We can practice numeracy skills as we add and subtract, develop fine motor skills and eye hand coordination, encourage taking turns, and think of physics and geometry concepts. It is a lovely game to play all year long. It is a good way to bring family and friends together in summer to wind down and spend time together.
