Aquatarium and the Tall Ships Festival in Brockville

brockville Aquatarium
During our visit to Brockville, we also had a chance to check out the newly opened Aquatarium. The Aquatarium is a fun place to explore with children, as there are lots of hands-on activities to do and learn from.

There is an otter habitat where we can meet river otters, which is a vital animal in the St. Lawrence River ecosystem. Our children enjoyed connecting what they saw and learned at Sault Ste. Marie about the canal system when exploring and playing at the power of water exploration table. They agreed that manipulating the gears and seeing how they can adjust the water levels to make the ships float was lots of fun.

They also enjoyed the green screen experience at the Aquatarium, which we usually enjoy when we visit the digiPlaySpace. I like that we were able to take a picture with the Sturgeon fish by the green screen and email the picture to ourself; the picture appears as though it is on a newspaper article.

There are lots of other activities to do such as a fish tank with a touch experience to feel starfish, excavate bones such as in an archeological site, the AquaDrop ropes course, and more.

One of our favourite activities was using the simulated rowing machine. There are two skiffs, side by side, fitted with rowing machines, which allows us to race in an interactive game.
