During our visits to Sri Lanka, a country famous for its exceptional tea, we have had the pleasure to visit tea plantations. The landscapes in these regions are memorable and beautiful. I have seen the plantation workers hard at work during the heat of the day hand-picking every leaf that we enjoy. Most of the workers I have seen doing this tedious work are women. As tea-lovers, we have been indulging the delicious, different flavours of Pure Leaf tea.

Monkeys are amazing creatures, and very much close to humans in many ways. The similarities we share with monkeys are beautifully and artistically presented in the Disneynature Monkey Kingdom. It has taken three years and talents of many experts to bring this movie to us. This movie based in the beautiful island of Sri Lanka by the ancient ruins founded in the jungles of Polonnaruwa, gives us a perspective of the lives of Macaque monkeys from their eyes. Watching this documentary movie has increased our love and respect for these creatures we had the pleasure of seeing in action during our visits to Sri Lanka.

As the weather warms up, I enjoy cooking on my barbecue and the stove top outdoors. I miss cooking outdoors in my clay pots during the winter, since clay pots tend to crack due to extreme temperatures from hot to cold. I cooked this spicy, flavourful fish curry using king fish on my clay pot that I bought last year during our summer vacation to Sri Lanka. It allows me to travel to the flavours that I crave, without packing my bags :) and brings back lots of good memories.

Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke bring this timeless classic Mary Poppins 50th Anniversary edition for the first time on Blu-ray and DVD on December 10th. Enjoy a spoonful of all-new digital restoration in this musical number that will make you want to tap your feet. I am sure this movie will bring back lots of memories for you, as it did for us. It is a wonderful movie to watch with the whole family.

Sri Lanka, an island in the Indian Ocean attracts five varieties of turtles. Turtles are pre-historic creatures that have been in the ocean for millions of years. However, due to human activities they are an endangered species. We visited a Turtle Hatchery and learned many interesting information. In the Turtle Hatchery, the turtle eggs are protected from poachers and predators.

Products made with elephant poo paperDuring our visit to the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage in Sri Lanka, we saw a small elephant poo factory that gave us the opportunity to learn how elephant dung is transformed into paper. I have seen products made with elephant poo during the Green living show in Canada, so very curiously we went in.

My family and I are very excited about our upcoming summer trip to Sri Lanka via Emirates. One of the excitements of travelling long-distances overseas is flying in fabulous aircrafts, enjoying the food served in the plane, appreciating the service, experience and adventure of travelling. We chose Emirates because it goes to our destination without a change in different airlines and because of their free to join Emirates Skywards program.
