Fun Games and Entertainment

watercolour
We are always excited to try new games and do different hands on activities in our family. We love game nights, and recently have been playing Azul and Ticket to Ride London. We also spent time building with Flexo. A new calendar year comes with new resolutions to become more creative, so we have been practicing watercolour painting with Watercolour the Easy Way book and took the time to clean up, get organized, and even spiced up our phones by replacing our Pop Sockets with creative ones! We have also been reading the Four Seasons of Entertaining book that is filled with colourful photography, recipes, and ideas separated by each season.
ticket to ride london game
In the Ticket to Ride London game, we can go back in time to 1970s and jump aboard a famous double-decker bus to rumble through London's historic streets, such as the British Museum, Big Ben, and more. This fast-paced Ticket to Ride game takes a little over 15 minutes to play, and can be played with 2 to 4 players above 6 years old.

The objective of the game is for the players try to race one another to claim the most important bus lines and complete their Destination Tickets, connecting Districts in the capital of the United Kingdom. The elegantly simple gameplay is ideal for both beginners and seasoned players. This has become one of our favourite games.
azul game
Azul designed by the famous, award winning game author Michael Kiesling won the 2018 Spiel des Jahres awards. In Azul, players take turns drafting coloured tiles from suppliers to their player board. Later in the round, players score points based on how they've placed their tiles to decorate the palace.

Extra points are scored for specific patterns and completing sets, and the wasted supplies harm the player's score. The player with the most points at the end of the game wins. This game can be played by 2 to 4 players, and each game takes about 45 minutes. It is appropriate for ages 8 and over.
flexo flexible bricks
Flexo is the world's only flexible brick system. It uses a unique rigid construction brick and flexible tendon that allows us to use our imagination and create designs that were thought impossible to do with brick. We used the Inventor Set that comes in neutrals colours which is part of their free play series, as children can build anything they imagine.

We can create a variety of designs that allows us to bounce, flex, bend, wrap or wear. There are a variety of different kits which come with different colour bricks.

These kits for children over five years will help develop their cognitive skills as they use their imagination to build and help improve fine motor skills. Children will love building together using these bricks, perfect way to develop social skills.
watercolour book
We have been practicing water colouring using this awesome Watercolour the Easy Way book by Sara Berrenson. This book has fifty tutorials on how we can paint motifs that include plants, flowers, animals, and more. We like the approach the author takes to make watercolours not intimidating for beginners, so my children tried a few as well.

The basics are explained in the beginning of the book, and the tutorials are broken down into key steps such as how to begin the painting, layer colour, and add detail. There are hand-drawn patterns we can trace onto our watercolour pad, brush recommendations, and tips. It is a delight to follow the step-by-step instructions to paint.
pop socket
Pop Sockets are innovative, fun products that are a must-have, as they make it easy to either prop up the phone or hold when taking pictures. There are so many colourful Pop Sockets to choose from to add our own personal touch to our phones and tablets.
