Home Decor Embroidered Cushion

Debra Valencia, pattern artist and author of the book Embroidered Lettering: Techniques and Alphabets for Creating 25 Expressive Projectssays, "One reason hand stitching lettering and inspirational phrases have become so popular because it helps soothe people in today's high-stress environment." This book has unique embroidery lettering projects that feature heartfelt sentiments and witty statements. I replicated a design from this book for a cushion cover.

For this cushion cover I used a variety of DMC embroidery thread I had and a canvas cloth. First I drew the design with a pencil free hand by looking at the book.

The design consists of five different stitches which includes satin stitch, french knots, long and short stitch in circular direction, stem stitch and lazy daisy stitch.

The book has 25 embroidery lettering projects which includes coasters, tote bags, monograms, eyeglasses case, throw pillows, luggage tags, and more. There are 24 useful stitches with step-by-step instructions and 7 alphabet templates we can use when stitching our own phrases. I found the information on tools and materials, and the stitch guide helpful to easily refer.
