Our Summer Escape in the Mazda CX-9

Mazda CX-9
Recently, we had a comfortable and relaxing drive during our summer escape to Collingwood and the Wasaga beach area in the Sonic Silver Metallic Mazda CX-9. There are many features in the CX-9 that everyone in the family will appreciate.

The keyless entry is really useful to easily access the vehicle. The front seats have seat warmers and the steering wheel is heated, which is useful during cold weather. There is a moon roof over the front passenger and driver's seat.

There are two drive selection options - normal and sports mode. We also have the option to drive in either automatic transaxle or manual shift mode.

The accessory socket is close and accessible through the front passenger seat. There is also a USB and Auxiliary jock in the middle storage unit, which can be easily accessible for front passengers. There is a USB power outlet in the storage unit that is in the middle of the second row seat that can be accessed when no one is sitting in the middle.

We like the commander knob and switches in the centre console to operate the applications and access information about the vehicle such as entertainment, communication, and the monitor that displays the fuel economy and navigation system. This system however needs a little getting used to. We wish it was possible to tuck away the display, when not in use. Our test vehicle did not have the Mazda GPS accessory, and we missed having the built-in GPS system in the vehicle and think it should be standard in all vehicles.

The vents in the second row seats can be adjusted. When the third row is occupied it is dangerous to keep the second row reclined. It was not convenient to access the third row, since we have to pull up the lever on the side of the head restraint to fold the second row seats back and slide the seats forward to get in. The power liftgate is button operated and warns when it closes and opens, however it does not detect movement when it is closing.

The forward sensing camera automatically switches the headlight from high to low beam when it is dark. There are features such as distance recognition support system that measures the distance between our vehicle and the vehicle ahead when the vehicle is operating at a speed of 30 km/h or faster. It also has lane keep assist system, compass display, active driving display, and blind spot monitor display that are useful when we are on the road. i-ACTIVSENSE safety features also include Mazda Radar Cruise Control, Smart Brake Support, Forward Obstruction Warning, Smart City Brake Support, Lane Departure Warning System, and High Beam Control.

We like the solid look of the CX-9 from the outside. We felt the design of the CX-9 is a winner and many of our family and friends commented on its luxurious look. Since the CX-9 has a slightly bigger frame we felt we had complete control and it was a smooth drive overall. We really enjoyed driving the Mazda CX-9.

  2. Sleek looking car, love it! And keyless entry is awesome!! One of our cars has it, and it's always my car of choice over our other when I am out with the kids - I never seem to have enough hands to manage putting a key into the door! ;-)
