Looking At The Night Sky

My son got this Space Torch toy as a gift from our friends. We really appreciate this as it opened up his enthusiasm to learn more about the night sky. To learn about the amazing things that can be found in the night sky, we checked out the Get Started Astronomy DK book that has lots of colourful pictures, advice, tips and in-depth fascinating information about stars, planets and galaxies visible from Earth.

The book has a series of observational exercises helping us to learn about space and gives confidence and skills on what to look for. It helps us start off by identifying bright stars, and constellations. Then learn about Moon's phases, eclipses, Milky Way, planets we can see from Earth. We can then build on our knowledge and look for galaxies through binoculars. The book also gives information on how to choose and use a telescope to see things like Saturn's rings and other wondrous things in the night sky.
This is a useful book for adults and children who want to learn everything about the night sky, after all the universe is surrounded by many interesting things.

  1. Looks like a great book. I really don't know much about astronomy, so this could me a way for my daughter to learn and me as well.

  3. That is pretty neat! It reminds me of the ViewMaster and the discs I had as a kid, except a much cooler way to view it. My youngest son would really enjoy this.
