Keeping Children Occupied on Road Trips and Hiking at Parks

During the summer months, our minds are in one gear to travel and explore! When travelling with young children we have found being prepared makes life on the road much easier. Even when our children were babies, we always travelled with toys that entertained them such as rattles and plush books. I remember, we had memorized the words on these books as we had read it to them multiple times until one day they were ready to read it back to us.

When our children were preschoolers, they chose to carry along activity books, crayons, and soft toys. Now, as school aged children they take fun kits that allow them to do crafts like bracelet making and read famous novels such as the Magic Faraway Tree series from authors like Enid Blyton that we ourselves used to enjoy as children. All of these items can be easily purchased online at Amazon.ca.
We have found the best way to explore and learn about the unique geological beauties in different Canadian regions is by visiting parks, and hiking the numerous trails. There are endless choices of Provincial and National parks that we enjoy hiking in. Each of these parks are unique, so we never know what type of terrain we will encounter during the hikes. We have found it is best to wear proper footwear such as hiking boots, and take along our hiking sticks

We found good deals for hiking shoes, bags, and hiking sticks on Amazon.ca for every member in our family. The hiking sticks we purchased are of decent quality and reasonably priced. A comfortable hiking bag is essential so we can carry snacks, water, and first aid. We purchased an Osprey hiking bag, which has been reliable, sturdy, and comfortable to carry for long periods of time without any back pains so we can enjoy our adventures.

  1. Family road trips and hiking are great ways to have memorable learning experiences.

  2. Great tips to keep the kids entertained and make lasting memories.

  3. When we go on road trips with our granddaughter we bring along plenty of stuff for her to do because sitting is definitely not her thing. Since she also likes to watch movies while travelling, kid headphones are a must otherwise no one in the car is allowed to talk lol!
