Our Visit to Grundy Lake Provincial Park

We loved our hikes at Grundy Lake Provincial Park because of the beautiful scenic views from every angle! Other than the bothersome flies, we enjoyed the peaceful scenic views, listening to the birds, and the sound of the frogs croaking. Our children loved the cliffs and the adventure of climbing them.

There are three hiking trails Swan Lake trail (1.5 km - 1 hour), Gut Lake trail (2.5 km - 1/2 hours), and Beaver Dams trail (3.6 km - 2 1/2 hours).

We love that all the trails are clearly marked and are in a loop, which is perfect to take young children along.

They have wonderful hands-on programs such as the Learn to fish program and naturalist programs at the Interpretive Centre. Children and adults alike will enjoy activities such as the scavenger hunt, and learning about rocks, butterflies, wetland critters and more.

I find that these programs reiterate what children learn at school; it is a wonderful way to make connections and remember how things relate in our environment. There are guided hikes, as well as an Amphitheatre with evening programs at Grundy Lake.

Although, we didn't encounter any bears during our visit a park attendant mentioned that he had seen an active bear in the campground, and there are signs noting that there are active bears in the park.

There are opportunities to camp overnight at Grundy Lake Provincial Park and enjoy the outdoors. They also have the Learn to Camp program at Grundy. There are nine paddle in sites at Grundy, which is perfect for beginners to try backcountry camping.

There are many other Ontario Provincial Parks close to Grundy Lake in Parry Sound, Ontario such as Sturgeon Bay, French River, Six Mile, Killarney, Fairbank, Restoule, Windy Lake, Chutes, Oastler, The Massasauga, and Killbear. We found each park to be unique and fun to visit. It is a wonderful way to absorb the beauty of nature, exercise, and rejuvenate.
