Ukrainian Method of Decorating Eggs or Pysanky

pysanky
Ukrainian method of painting eggs called pysanky. This Eastern European art of egg decorating is similar to batik, and the method requires the use of wax and special dye.

To do this technique we used...
pysanky
kistka, a stylus used that holds the wax and allows us to draw on the egg
room temperature eggs without removing the content
Ukrainian egg dyes* (other commercial dyes won't work well)
beeswax
candle
