Knit hat

I used 4 1/2 mm needles.
Cast on 100 stitches for an adult, If you want it smaller cast on less stitches.

Pattern
Row 1: knit
Row 2: purl
Row 3: K1, P1
Row 4: purl
Repeat these 4 rows until it measures 8", I did till it measured 11" end with the Purl row.

Once it measures 8" or 11"

Next row: K1, K2 together, end with K1
Next row: purl
Repeat these two rows one more time.

Cut the yarn 15" or 20" long and weave it through the last stitches.

Pull it together and sew the top and sides from the wrong side of the hat. Turn it over to the right side.
This hat makes it own roll up brim. Knit and keep yourself warm with this cute hat :)
The pattern is adapted from here.

    1. Hi Naomi, I am not sure if I can help, I only did this pattern because it doesn't require circular needles :) I think it would be the same without the use a yarning needle in the end to attach. Please let me know if you try it with circular needles.

    2. Did you try the circular needles? I love them! It's a lot easier. From my experience, patterns I've seen first use 4 dpn then you transfer.

    3. I'm curious as to the CO stitch count. Wouldn't you measure your head then multiply the gauge by that number? I haven't knitted for a couple years, having to relearn.... :/

  14. I love this hat pattern. I see you adapted it from another site. I would like permission to adapt it for a circular knitting pattern to use with my ESL knitting class I volunteer teach. Thanks.

  15. I came across this beautiful knitted hat. Intend to knit one for myself and friend. How many stitches to cast on on 4 worsted weight yarn?

  16. I haven’t made using different yarn so I am not sure how many stitches it would be. Please share if you know.

  17. Do you have a measurement or gauge? Should the hat be a bit “floppy”. Mine is measuring about 3” wider than my head circumference. Just finished 6 rows and wonder if too big and maybe should try smaller needle.

  18. Do you have a measurement of gauge? I’m 6 rows into my hat and seems to be about 3” bigger than circumference of my head. Should it be a floppy fit?

    1. Hi Kathryn sorry I don’t have the gauge measurement, it isn’t really a floppy fit however I fold it ones to keep my ears warm when I wear it.
If you haven’t knitted too many rows cast on a little less or fold it by the brim and see if that fits better.
