DK Canada books to inspire Summer Detox and Giveaway

When spring comes along, we get quite excited to plant a variety of different vegetables, herbs, and flowers in our garden. Harvesting and caring for the plants all summer long is one of our favourite hobbies. In order to inspire us to spend our summer feeling relaxed, refreshed, and ready to take part in adventures, we took a closer look at a few DK Canada books that inspires Summer Detox.

The following three books - Practical Ayurveda, Essential oils, and Super clean super foods - are guides that can help us achieve balance of body and mind. Detoxing is not an easy task, it needs a lot of will power, inspiration, and motivation! Read to find out a little more details of each book.
Ayurveda is a term we grew up with, it means the science of life and deals with healthy living and treating disease. Ayurveda has been practiced in India for thousands of years.

The Practical Ayurveda book makes it possible for all of us to understand this knowledge, and helps to put it in practice. It reveals the path to well-being by identifying individual characteristics and patterns of health, and shows how to bring balance to our life.

This book teaches us how to learn about our Ayurvedic body type (dosha) through a simple self-assessment questionnaire, and how to apply Ayurveda to elements of any lifestyle by adjusting our diet to suit our body type using recipes and ingredient lists, stretch and energize our body through yoga, and focus and relax our mind with meditation and positive thinking exercises. The section with home therapies and remedies for a variety of common ailments is very useful.
We are fascinated by essential oils and aromatherapy, and have invested in different types of aromatherapy scents during our travels and through recommendations of friends. By taking a look at this instructional guide Essential Oils from the experts at Neal's Yard Remedies, we were able to understand how we can harness the healing powers of essential oils and use it to treat maladies and improve mental and physical well-being. We like the idea of using homeopathic alternatives to treat everyday health issues, including acne, PMS, insomnia, and indigestion, and rebalance your energy, enhance your focus, and release stress. This visual guide features comprehensive profiles of 88 essential oils, full-colour photographs, helpful guidance for using, blending, and storing, and tips on application methods and massage techniques, and up-to-date safety recommendations so we can have its maximum benefit. I wish the book mentions how we can use the plants to make the oils at home.
Super Clean Super Foods features 250 easy ways to enjoy 90 nutrient-filled whole foods loaded with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that will help us boost our health and energy. We like how this book shows us how to incorporate food and ingredients like quinoa and chia seeds to spinach and pomegranate into our everyday diet, along with colourful illustrations that teaches us how to prepare unfamiliar ingredients.

The book guides us in exploring the health properties of phytonutrients, dietary fiber, whole grains, and seasonally and locally grown fruits and vegetables that will better our body and the environment, and work toward specific goals with food plans for better sleep, gut health, brain health, and more.
