This String Art project is inspired by the Stitch + Strings Lab for Kids book. It is similar to nail and thread art, but an easier version using cardboard, needle, and yarn. There are many different possibilities of creating geometric designs with this craft.
For this project you will need
Paint to make the cardboard colourful
Cardboard from any recycle box or card stock
Yarn in different colours
Tape
Scissors
Blunt tapestry needle
Paint the cardboard in any colour of your choice and leave it to dry. We used the gel printing plate and DecoArt acrylic paint to make a colourful design effect for the background.
Once the cardboard is dry cut a square in the size of your choice. On the reverse side trace a circle and draw a total of sixteen lines that are evenly spaced. Use a blunt needle and make small holes where the lines are drawn.
Thread the yarn into the needle and put it from the back to the painted side of the cardboard and secure the yarn with a piece of tape on the back.
You can put different coloured yarn through different holes in different directions to get the designs you want.
