Using Stencil and Textured Dimensional Paint for DIY Focal Wall

Adding this textured stencil art instantly changed our space! We did this stencil art using the American decor tropical leaves and Americana Decor Texture in Meadow Green paint. Now, this space has a focal point and an added interest.

The Decor Texture acrylic paint is water based, which makes clean up easy before the paint dries. The paint dries quickly within a few hours. We painted the leaves in batches, giving about three hours in between, so we were able to place some leaves close to each other and in different directions.

We held the stencil up on the wall with painters tape and painted a few leaves at a time before washing the stencil. Using a palette knife instead of a paint brush made it easier to apply the paint, as we wanted the leaves to have texture.
For this project you will need...

We placed the leaves as though it was blowing from one direction towards the ground. To add more vibrance and detail to the textured leaves, once the textured paint dried we painted lightly with Deco art acrylic gold paint.

This paint can be used creatively for stunning home decor and to give furniture pieces dimension and texture. Americana Decor Texture is available in satin and metallic finish.

To complete the look of this space we did a DIY mirror project by adding a hand-cut scroll design using our Dewalt DW788 20" variable speed scroll saw on to a mirror.
