We love putting pen to paper in our home! We draw, doodle, colour, paint, and practice creative writing every chance we get. It is well known that writing and drawing has lots of cognitive, physical, and emotional benefits for children and adults, apart from being fun.
Despite the technological changes in the modern digital age, we have found we don't seem to use less paper, rather in our home we prefer writing everything from notes, to-do lists, and journals.
Hilroy productsHaving the proper gear is very important at all times, especially when we head back to a new school year. A good set of mathematical instruments is important for different strands of maths, and this set from Hilroy will give children a good start to be neat and learn how to use these tools correctly to benefit them.
Hilroy founded in downtown Toronto in 1918 by Roy Corson Hill is celebrating their 100th year anniversary. They are the leading manufacturer and marketer of school, home and office products in Canada, as they offer a full line of products for students of all ages, and tools for corporate offices and home offices.
Hilroy has a variety of different binders and notebooks that will help students to stay organized. We like their brand of notebooks, as they have different choices to suite our needs. Hilroy carries notebooks with lined paper, squared paper for mathematics, and dotted paper notebooks that are good to make charts and graphs. Some notebooks have an index page and stickers to put tabs and keep notes organized. They also have coiled notebooks with three holes to easily place in the binder. There are some notebooks in which the papers can be removed easily if the students wish to do so. Some notebooks have a little pocket in the front to easily store loose sheets of paper. They also have journals with an elastic bungee closure and ribbon bookmarks to inspire us to write every day. We like the variety of inspiring and colourful designs on the notebooks which easily brings in excitement to start writing.
Derwent brand productsDerwent has a variety of art supplies made in United Kingdom. There story begins in the heart of the Lake District of North-West England with the discovery of graphite in the Borrowdale Valley in Cumbria and the birth of pencil making in Keswick. The Cumberland Pencil Company created its first pencil in 1832 and the first Derwent fine art colour pencil was introduced in 1938. Their Pencil Museum still stands on the site of their original factory in Keswick.
We enjoyed using a couple of Derwent Academy products meant for aspiring artists. This comprehensive line is perfect for Aspiring Artists to experiment with new products and techniques. It has a range of affordable, quality, mid-tier products that offer full line of mediums for Student and Recreational Artists from classic colour and sketching pencils, to paint sets, bold oil pastels, markers and the assortment of sketch books and paper pads.
We checked out their graphite Graphik line maker, which is wonderful to do drawings with because of its smooth free flowing lines and lightfast pigment ink. We like the different fine point sizes the pen is available in.
Practicing our creative writing is one of our hobbies. We found the Derwent Academy twin tip markers useful to create different designs and patterns. This package of Twin-Tip Markers have 8 vibrant colours, which can be used for freeform drawing and calligraphy. One side of the marker has a fine point tip for maximum control and the other has a chisel tip to get thick lines.
We have been using the Derwent colour pencils to do a variety of drawings and colouring. We found the pencils sturdy as the tips did not break easily. These colour pencils come in a tin case, which keeps the pencils in place. Having the twenty-four different vibrant colours spread out makes it easier to choose different shades without having to look for it. We like that the name of each colour is printed on the side of the pencil making it helpful during our colouring projects.
Overall, we like having Hilroy and Derwent products in our creative space because of their quality and inspiration. We have been using these products regularly when we do different crafts and creative arts.
