Inspiring Film on IMAX - Dream Big Engineering Our World

dream big engineering
We like how the IMAX Film DREAM BIG: Engineering Our World now playing at the Ontario Science Centre celebrates the human ingenuity behind engineering. This film gives a beautiful insight into engineering and how important this field is for the betterment of humanity.

The film narrated by Jeff Bridges has inspiring stories of human grit and aspiration such as a young woman engineer building bridges in undeveloped countries, about a robotics team in an underprivileged high school that succeeds against all odds, and more.

Dream Big reveals the compassion and creativity that drive engineers to create better lives for people and a more sustainable future for us all. From the Great Wall of China and the world's tallest buildings to underwater robots, solar cars and smart, sustainable cities, Dream Big showcases engineering marvels big and small.

It was fun to watch engineering marvels such as how sticky rice was used when the Great Wall of China was built. How one engineer can bring a group together and build bridges that saves lives and helps people. How engineers came up with a solution when building the tower of Shanghai to resist strong winds from typhoons.  There were many other situations in the film on how engineering helps all of us.

We liked how this film promotes the educational STEM movement (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math). Director Greg MacGillivray says, "... We hope the film energizes kids of all ages, especially girls, to think about engineering as a meaningful way to help others and leave a positive mark on the world." Check this www.DiscoverE.org/dreambig that has many educational activities.

The family‐friendly film cost $9 per ticket and has a run time of 40 minutes. For ticket and show time information, visit www.OntarioScienceCentre.ca.
