Anne of Green Gables and Prince Edward Island

A few years ago we visited Prince Edward Island and loved its scenic beauty. We were drawn to visit P.E.I and enjoy its beautiful scenery and attractions because of Lucy Maud Montgomery's novel Anne of Green Gables.

This novel never gets old. We like how the places in the story are relatable. We visited Green Gables, Lucy Maud Montgomery's home and Avonlea.

We think it is fun to read classic novels such as Anne of Green Gables and Anne of Avonlea and introduce these to our children. The story about Anne in these novels will make us laugh and cry. The Green Edition books by Dover Publication is an affordable addition to our personal library.

The story was originally published in 1908 by Lucy Maud Montgomery, the tale of Anne Shirley and her adventures in Green Gables span over 8 novels and has reached readers in over 25 languages. Reading these classics made us eager to watch the new Anne of Green Gables films. These new versions of the films are a little different from the classic movies starring Megan Follows that we have enjoyed watching a few times.

In L.M. Montgomery's Anne of Green Gables: The Good Stars, Anne Shirley turns thirteen and faces a host of new milestones: first sleepovers, culinary misadventures, and shifting relationships with her bosom friend Diana and academic rival Gilbert Blythe. Through all this, Anne strives to strike a balance between becoming an upstanding, sensible young woman, and embracing her inquisitive and free-spirited nature. This film premieres on Family Day, Monday, February 20 at 6 p.m. ET/PT.

We can watch the first film on Monday, February 20 at 4 p.m. ET/PT or watch it on ytv.com and the YTVGo App. It is fun to watch places like the Halton Railway Museum and Black Creek captured in the film.

As a special Canada Day celebration on Saturday, July 1, YTV will be hosting a marathon of the L.M. Montgomery’s Anne of Green Gables films concluding with the premiere of Fire and Dew.

In L.M. Montgomery's Anne of Green Gables: Fire and Dew, Anne heads to Charlottetown to attend accelerated classes as she continues to work towards her dream of being a school teacher. While there, she is forced to adapt quickly to her new surroundings and classmates as she navigates her way through her first school experience outside of her beloved Green Gables. Anne finds herself facing daunting choices for her future, the stirrings of romance, and tragedy unlike anything she's ever known. Meanwhile, Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert contend with advancing age as they deal with financial challenges and the first signs of declining health.
