Suteki Stencil Art

My children and I checked out the Suteki Stencils that are available at Toys"R"Us stores. Suteki Stencils allow children to create their own layered stencil pop art.
The kit comes with everything we need to get started. There are four steps of layering to create the two designs.
First, place the white board in the plastic stencil station. Squeeze one of the four Acrylic paint into the palette. Then place the stencil according to the instructions that come with the kit on top of the white board and paint using the stamper sponge in a mopping and pressing motion.
This process has to be repeated with the four stencils. We have to start with light colours then go into the dark colours.
One of the things I did not like was washing and drying the sponge in between each stencil and colour change. For children 5 to 6 years we have help with the squeezing of the paint, directing with the placement of the stencils, washing and drying the sponge so it seemed like a lot of work, but the outcome of the project is cute. If children are between 7 and 12 they may not need help.
We have to be careful not to stain clothing or furniture when using the paint. When I was washing the sponge it came off the stamper and we used our fingers to press the sponge and paint, which stained fingernails.
We chose to paint the dog design because my children didn't want to paint the zombie. I wish there were more options on how we can use the stencil to create unique projects. We tried to make both the designs of the dog slightly different by switching couple of the light colours and making a mirror image. The kit came with two plastic frames to hang the stencil pop art. The frames have an easy lock system with a reusable peel and stick backing that can adhere to most surfaces.
