Cheering For Team Canada as they go to 2014 Winter Olympics

We are proud to be Canadian, since there is no place like home. There are lots of reasons for our love and pride, which we show by being kind to those around us, travelling to see the different and unique parts of Canada. We support events that appeal to us in our local community as well as all over Canada by participating and being part of. Being long time lovers of the Olympics, we are excited about the upcoming 2014 Winter Olympics and looking forward to gather family and friends to cozy up and cheer Team Canada.

My Mom Is a Foreigner, But Not to Me A Heartwarming Children's Story

My Mom Is a Foreigner, But Not to Me written by Julianne Moore and illustrated by Meilo So is a heartwarming story that made my children and I laugh, cry and cuddle. This book would be a wonderful gift for children any age, as it reminds us about a mother's special love.

Imagining and Discovering With The Imaginext Rescue City Center

I am sure all parents just like me enjoy watching their little ones imitate, imagine and play. It puts a smile on our face when our children are playing and we hear positive interactions such as helping or caring about others. When my children play, I hear them imagining to be superheroes and firefighters to save the day, or caring about other people as doctors, or being a person in the community like a cashier.

Playing With Fisher-Price Little People®

Imagination and discovery has a positive impact on our children's growing minds. I remember when I was growing up, I always played with my cousins and brothers imagining that we were out at sea or selling food in a market or being a teacher in a classroom. I am sure these fond memories helped us grow. Now as a parent, I love watching my children learn through play. It is fun to watch them imagine that they are firefighters and run around the house, be explorers and find bugs in the garden, help me garden and act as though they are farmers and then sell the produce from the garden like there is a market, make cupcakes like they are bakers with their toys and always try to save the day as heroes.

Our Bedtime Routine

It is very important to start a bedtime routine from an early age and to stick with it. Many studies, I have read, show the importance of a goodnight sleep for healthy growth.
My husband and I have implemented a bedtime routine for our children since they were young. Although, putting our daughter to bed when she was little was easy, it was different with our son who pretty much never slept for the first two years of his life.

Fun Activities We Do To Relax At Home

I long to spend quality time with my children at the end of the day, especially after school started in September. We have been quite busy this summer so like me, my children prefer to stay home and read a book or do other fun things indoors these days. To relax and revitalize we do many things like...

Learning about Farming at the Indoor CNE Farm

We learned lots of fabulous information when we went to the Farm at CNE just before school started this year. I love these types of hands on experiences, as children remember these more and become aware of their surroundings. Last year, we went to a wonderful event by Farmers Feed Cities at Riverdale Farm and learned lots about farm life, farm animals and got a chance to speak with many Ontario farmers.

Our Opa Moments With Yopa and $100 Giveaway

Every celebration big or small is celebrated with something sweet in our home. I love to bake and make my sweets whenever possible, however due to the lack of time I like having yummy, healthy desserts and snacks in the fridge. I think every meal to be complete, needs a little sweet snack or dessert and Yopa has made this list in our home.

These Help Answer The Big Question "What to Send for School Today?"

I like packing a variety of snacks such as fruits and cut vegetables, cheese and crackers for my children to take to school and after school programs. I find it easy to make snacks like short eats, buns, muffins and scones when time permits and leave it in the fridge so my children can have healthy homemade food whenever they want.

Strawberry Banana Milk Bars

With the summer heat we are always looking for ways to cool down, so I made this delicious milk bars or popsicles with strawberry and banana. In June when it was strawberry season in Ontario, it has become our tradition to take the kids and pick our own strawberries in a local farm close to home. I usually remove the top and cut the strawberries into two and freeze it.

Wisdom of Drinking Water to Stay Healthy

Hydration, daily exercise, a good night’s sleep and proper nutrition are all part of the equation when it comes to leading a healthy lifestyle. After all our bodies are mainly made with water, and we all know without water no living thing can exist.
Staying hydrated is very important to my family and I, so we follow the wisdom and Islamic etiquette of drinking water to stay healthy.

Watching The Skies As It Is Almost Time For Us To Fly

My husband is a space enthusiast and love talking about stars, space shuttles, airplanes, and even about aliens (star wars) :) His enthusiasm towards these have obviously rubbed off to our children, so they were excited to watch flights landing and taking off for a long time.

Check out this video we took of the Airbus A380 Super Jumbo landing at Toronto Pearson International Airport. We will be travelling in this big bird soon :)

Elephant Inspired Step Stool

This Bumbo step stool is very handy to have in every home with children. We really like the design of this step stool that resembles the foot of an elephant. In our home, my son uses this stool all the time to reach the sink. This stool encourages our children to be independent, as they can use it when they are learning to wash their hands or brush their teeth.

Celebrating the Unique Pink Kinder® Surprise®

Every child is unique and so are mine :) I love the way my children brighten up my mood when I feel tired. I love the bear hugs and kisses I get from them. I find their jokes funny. I love the way they say "mom your food is the yummiest," makes me feel like the best :)

No space is too small for a garden

I like growing herbs in the summer in small spaces and pots, so it doesn't spread all over the garden. I find growing our own vegetables, fruits, herbs and flowers is rewarding. It is rewarding to plant our own herbs and vegetables, as we can get local, organic food from our own garden that will makes us happy.
Last year I put lots of top soil, manure, compost from Pefferlaw that benefited our garden and helped produce a good crop of tomatoes, eggplant, okra, bitter melon, chillies, herbs and more.

Our Childhood Summer Camp Experience and The Awaiting Fun At Muskoka Woods

When I was growing up, I always look forward to spending my summer at summer camp. While in high school, I spent my summers as a camp counsellor making some cash while having lots of fun and seeing many attractions in Ontario. My memories of camp are mostly stored in my memory drive, as none of us at that time had digital cameras or camera-phones to capture all the wonderful memories. I remember as a camp counsellor we had lots of fun carrying out our approved planned activities such as sports, crafts, cooking, and trips. I learned a lot going to camp, as it helped me grow my confidence and allowed me to take on new challenges. Here are some of the little things I saved over the years in my treasure/ shoebox :)
