Becel Now Made with Simpler Ingredients

salmon wasabi appetizer
Although, my family and I continue to look for simplicity in the food we consume daily, it is quite difficult to know about all the different ingredients that go into basic kitchen supplies like margarine. Mainly because of this reason, a few years ago I completely stopped using margarine and used butter instead as it is easier to tell what goes into butter. Recently, I got a chance to attend the launch of Becel made with simpler ingredients and learn how margarine is made, as well as ask questions that have changed my perspective about margarine.

Soft Boiled Eggs and Ramen Fusion Cookbook Giveaway

ramen cookbook and soft boiled eggs
With a new year comes many reminders for us to make new resolutions! However, I like making goals and resolutions throughout the year. Incorporating meals from different cuisines is an exciting way to start of 2016, so I explored Ramen dishes from Japanese cuisine. I learned a lot about these dishes from the DK Ramen Fusion Cookbook by Nell Benton and from watching The Mind of a Chef Season 1 Episode 1 on Netflix.

Eating Balanced Meals Can Help Maintain Good Health

A recent Shoppers Drug Mart Flu Poll found that 51% of Canadians believe the best way to protect our self from flu is by eating well. I believe having balanced meals helps us maintain immune function, and good health so I try to make a variety of healthier dishes for my family and I. I love to make our dishes colourful and especially make it a point to do this in the winter.

PAM No Residue Compared to a Competitor Brand

Sometimes I feel it is hard to clean and remove the residue off of cookware and bakeware after we make meals on it. Recently, when I was comparing PAM's new 97% less residue formula to another competitor brand cooking spray I found a slight difference.

Our Favourite Banana Bread in a Loaf Pan

Banana Bread in a Loaf Pan
I made our favourite banana bread, with an addition of sweetened desiccated coconut and chocolate chips in this Trudeau's structure loaf pan. This structure loaf pan is perfect to make bread cakes and meat loaves. Although, making this banana bread recipe in a loaf pan takes a little longer about 30 minutes, than if I were to make it in a muffin pan, I like that using this structure loaf pan cooks the cake evenly and releases the cake easily. I don't have to put parchment paper when I use this loaf pan.

We are glad that we can own a copy on Blu-ray™ and Digital HD, as it becomes available on December 2nd. This story based on the beloved, best-selling novel by Richard C. Morais is a flavorful tale of cultural differences, shared passions, and the unifying nature of food. It is the perfect gift for movie fans of all ages this holiday season.

Flavourful Stew made in the Breville Risotto Plus

I made this hearty, flavourful stew in the Breville Risotto Plus cooker. I found it awesome that I can sauté, steam, make rice and risotto, as well as use it as a slow cook all in the same bowl with this Risotto Plus. I really like how the food caramelizes and cooks in the sauté mode, which I can then switch to either rice, steam, or risotto, or slow cook either in high or low setting all using the same bowl without additional work.
