BigSteelBox A Solution for Storage During Renovations and Moving

bigsteelbox storage solution
In the past few years, we've done a number of different renovations around the home and most recently renovated our basement, bathroom and kitchen. When undertaking these big scale home renovation projects, it can become quite stressful when living in the same space. Clearing the space helps, but finding additional space to store the items can be difficult. We also found everything in the home gets covered with fine dust, which means we need to constantly clean up; so, having lots of things around doesn’t make it easy. In our experience, we felt when the space is not cleared the furniture and belongings get in the way and become a hassle, and it is hard to envision the full potential of the space.

Sewing a Crotchet Hook Case

Sewing a Crotchet Hook Case
I recently invested in a set of crotchet hooks, and really like how comfortable this set of crotchet hooks are. I use these hooks for variety of projects, and wanted to make sure I keep the hooks in one place. Since these hooks did not come with a case, I stitched a crotchet hook case using felt.

The 3-Step Werner Project Step Stool is Handy for DIY projects

The 3-Step Type II Project Ladder Step Stool available to purchase at Lowe's is ideal for any task in our home, kitchen or garage. We find the utility tray on this ladder to be useful for our painting and DIY projects as it can hold paint cans and tools that we need. We like having the option of either being able to keep the tray attached or removed depending on our need.

Enhancing the Curb Appeal with this #DIY Driveway Project using Rust-Oleum EpoxyShield

Rust-Oleum EpoxyShield driveway
We feel the driveway is one of the most important part of a property, as it adds to the curb appeal. It is also the most used space in a home, and wears out the fastest because it is exposed to the sun, rain, snow, and dirt, as well as vehicle oils. In the past, to keep our driveway looking clean, fresh, bright, and dark we have used asphalt driveway sealers, and also professional driveway sealing services. However, these looks have not lasted more than a few days before the driveway has gone back to look like its old self.

fram cabin filter
Changing the cabin air filter in our vehicle is very important. A clean cabin air filter allows passengers to breath easily, as it improves the air quality inside the vehicle. In the past, the dealership usually changes the filter on our vehicle and it costs us more than if we were to do it ourselves. Recently, when we found out how easy it is to change the air and engine filter in our vehicle ourselves using FRAM products, we realized how it helps maintain the vehicle and saves us money.

Bring Your Garage Door to Life using Chamberlain MyQ Garage Door Controller

Chamberlain MyQ Garage Door Controller
With the rapid growth in technology, it is becoming more easy for us to manage our homes using smart home tech. We find that investing in home tech such as smart bulbs and security cameras does not cost us much, compared to changing prior investments such as garage doors to make it smarter. In order to make it more affordable for folks, Chamberlain has made an universal smartphone garage door controller that we can install to our already existing garage door at a fraction of the cost compared to if we were to change the entire door.

Improving Curb Appeal with Renfrew Blue Fusion

Renfrew Blue Fusion paint door
We have a four panel steel door for our main entrance. Although it was already primed when we purchased it, it had never been painted over. Since the door was off colour and looked dull we decided to give it a fresh coat of paint. We decided on using the beautiful green-blue shade of Renfrew Blue Fusion paint for the outer part of our front door to enhance the curb appeal.

Yard Maintenance with the Dewalt Brushless Blower

We have been wanting to reduce our work in the yard, and enjoy spending more time just relaxing in the garden. One of our manual tasks in the garden is raking - we can do this job much easily using a leaf blower.

Completed Bathroom Renovation #BathroomReno

bathroom renovation
We have been busy taking on a DIY bathroom project, which has been long, but fun and satisfying. We wanted our bathroom to be functional and fit for everyone in the family, so when we designed it we had a universal design in mind. This allowed us to make the space functional and safe without compromising style and character.

Building our own rolling DIY Door and Organizing with Rev-a-shelf

building a rolling barn door DIY
We love the concept of barn doors, rolling door, and pocket doors because they are neat and trendy! We were so excited that we were able to include a sliding door in our #BathroomReno project. We had a closet outside the washroom, where we keep our linen. To access this closet we needed to come out of the washroom, which was not convenient. When we were planning our renovation, we decided to bring the closet inside the bathroom, which would allow us to have more space and use it functionally.

Adding Style and Sophistication with Delta Dryden #BathroomReno

delta dryden collection
For our recent bathroom renovation project, we used Delta products because of our positive past experience with their bathroom and kitchen products. I like the spectrum of finishes and styles Delta has. I think the choice of what finish and style we choose to add, changes the feel of our space.

Building a Custom Vanity #BathroomReno DIY

DIY custom vanity
In our #BathroomReno we decided to build our own custom vanity to fit our need and space. Instead of spending money for a ready-made vanity that restricts what we want in our vanity, our decision to build one allowed us to add a variety of features we wanted.

OXO Essentials In Our Bathroom

OXO bathroom sink grip
Couple of years ago we added a shower stall for a bathroom in our home, and we find having a shower stall is more useful for our family. We built a barrier that gives us the option of being able to fill the shower stall with water. I found this OXO 5" silicone tub stopper allows us to effectively seal the drain to fill the shower stall with water if we want. The suction cup secures the stopper to the floor when we use it. I like that when we are not using the stopper, we can use the suction cup to store it upright.

Decoupage Vase and Using Stencils on Fabric

I enjoy looking through, and being inspired by a couple of Amy Butler's books. The Stencils book has beautiful fresh, decorative patterns that we can use for many of our decor projects. The 14 die-cut stencil designs in this kit comes with an inspiring book that has colourful projects.
