Easy to make delicious Madeleines

This Madeleine recipe is one of my favourites. I make it often because it is made with a few ingredients and I can make the mixture ahead of time and leave it in the fridge until I am ready to bake. These are perfect snacks to cozy up during cool evenings with a cup of coffee or warm milk. These yummy Madeleines would also be wonderful to enjoy during the Thanksgiving weekend when families get together.

Back to School Netflix Inspirations

As our little ones have gone back to school, it is a good time for our children to brush up on some basic skills starting from the beginning of the year. These titles available on Netflix are good shows to watch after a busy day at school to relax and do some fun learning.

Making This School Year the Best with DK Books

With the start of a new school year, I think it is important to set some routines for our children around doing some extra practice after school. This routine is very important to us, especially since the school my children attend don't give homework due to the no homework policy. I find the selection of books at the DK's Back to School boutique such as their Made Easy series, and 10 Minutes a Day series are helpful for my children to get some extra practice and ask us questions about context they would have been introduced to in school. These books and more are now available for 30% off its regular price.

Pointe-à-Callière Montreal Museum of Archaeology and History

There are so many places to see within downtown Montreal, and I am glad we went to check out the Pointe-à-Callière Montreal Museum of Archaeology and History that had the temporary exhibit of the epic journey of Marco Polo, as well as many fun permanent exhibits. It was fun for us to learn and see how the archaeologist go deep underground.

The Importance of RBC RESPs

As a parent, I think it helps if we give some thought about our children's education from the time they are young instead of waiting for the days when it gets closer for them to go to university or college. Starting to save when they are small also takes off a load of stress in the future when they need the money for education. I was part of the private school system up to grade eight, so my tuition fee was a big portion of my parents' financial expenses. My parents did start saving from the time I was in a public high school, but the funds were not enough to pay for university.

Getting Creative with Crayola Model Magic

Model Magic is a wonderful lightweight, spongy, unique modelling material for children to shape fun figures, blend, or cover objects and decorate. It is much easier to use than clay, and the non-crumbling formula sticks to itself and not our fingers. The finished objects are left outside to air dry, depending on the size of the craft shape it can take overnight or up to 72 hours to dry.

Drive-In Movie Theatres

I have never watched a movie in a drive-in movie theatre, but have seen many movies where people go to drive-in theatres, which looks like a fun experience I would want to try. In the 1950s, Canada has had over 250 drive-in theatres and they were the hottest ticket in town. In recent years, more than 4,000 drive-ins have gone dark across North America. It’s not too late share the joy of the drive-in movies with your family and friends at one Canada’s 50 remaining outdoor screens. Grab a blanket and catch a movie under the stars before summer ends or, add a stop on your fall road trip.

Being Proactive For Online Safety with ESET Mobile Security and Giveaway

I pretty much put our lives on my smartphone because of using the calendar to remember appointments, take pictures and videos of my family and places we go, and store all my contacts. Since this information I store is valuable, I like to take proactive steps to protect myself from the information being hacked or stolen. Thankfully I have always been a little cautious to avoid these situation in the past, and recently added the ESET Mobility Security application on our Android smartphone to make me feel better when I use my phone as well as let my children use it.

Learning to Camp with Ontario Parks

learn to camp
Camping is a fun getaway to do with the family and take a break from life’s stress and pace. My family and I loved experiencing the fun Learn to Camp program hosted by Ontario Parks. We got to know about this program through a community information session that Ontario Parks hosted. We learned everything we need to know about camping without harming the environment. Camping with knowledge encourages us to do this recreational activity more often, and learn to relax in nature and appreciate it more.

Our #FitMadeFun Party

Both my children love wearing their LeapBand. LeapBand is a cool new innovative product from LeapFrog. This wearable activity tracker encourages children to get active with customizable virtual pet pals. LeapBand tracks children's every movement and suggests fun active challenges. The more they move, the more points they earn to unlock virtual rewards for their pets and get to new levels. I love this, as it is a wonderful way to encourage children to move their bodies and play. My children are both competing to get more points, and this is awesome because they can only earn points by moving.
