The Adventures of My Pirate and Princess

My daughter and son enjoy pretend-play, so they were super excited when we made this Spy Scope and Wand.
There is a story to go along these two pirate and princess accessories... Once a upon a time Princess Sister lost all her jewellery except for her magical wand that gives directions. The good Pirate Brother helped his sister look for the lost jewellery using his Spy Scope.

Go Behind the Scenes with these Movie Maniacs DK Books

Every Disney fan, young or old will enjoy the Pixar: Character Encyclopedia. We are big fans of Disney Pixar movies so we enjoyed looking through this book and learning about more than 200 characters. We like that the characters are separated by the movies such as Toy Story 1, 2, 3, a bug’s life, Monsters Inc., Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, Cars, Ratatouille, Wall. E, Up and Brave.

Disney's Oz The Great and Powerful is a Fun to Watch Family Movie

Disney' Oz the Great and Powerful was lots of fun to watch on blu-ray with the whole family. This epic adventure with vibrant picture and sound is really entertaining. We liked the funny dialogue and the word play in the movie, which was refreshing and fun to watch.
The movie is about Oscar Diggs, a small-time circus magician with dubious ethics, is hurled away from dusty Kansas to the vibrant Land of Oz. He thinks he hit the jackpot, until he meets the three witches: Theodora, Evanora and Glinda who are not convinced that he is the great wizard everyone’s been expecting.

Two exciting premieres on Disney Junior! Henry Hugglemonster + Quest for the Crystal Mickey

There will be two special series from Disney Junior that premieres this month, which are sure to please our little ones.

The new series Henry Hugglemonster is produced by the same Oscar®-nominated animation studio Brown Bag Films as Doc McStuffins. This show is about Henry, a high-energy monster-kid that lives in Roarsville.  The series is based on the children's book "I'm a Happy Hugglewug".  Henry like any other typical five-year-old child loves his family, enjoys playing outside with his friends, and says exactly what he thinks the moment it pops into his head.

We had a fabulous experience @Disneyonice Rockin' Ever After

The opening night at Disney on Ice in the Rogers Centre was totally Rockin'.  We had an awesome time.  The show started off with a fast paced, upbeat rock and roll musical that was exciting to watch.  Special guests like Pinocchio and Cinderella's stepsisters joined Mickey and the clubhouse members in the beginning of the show.  My son said he liked it every time Mickey came to the stage.  The four stories highlighted at the Rockin' Ever After show was about Ariel, Rapunzel, Merida and Belle.

My daughter is a big fan of Rapunzel so I was glad that she was happy with this book Disney Tangled: Rapunzel's book of secrets.  It is a really cute journal type book girls will enjoy.  It has all the information and "secrets" about Rapunzel.
This journal encourages girls to think about themselves, write down memories, dreams, desires and their secrets.  The diary comes with a heart shaped lock and two keys so all the secret stuff the girls write can be kept as "secrets".  My daughter enjoyed reading about her favourite princesses and she really enjoys filling the pages with all her little secrets and locking it up.
This book also encourages children to write and read.  It makes a good gift for a princess as she can keep this diary with her treasures and read it when she gets older.  This book is available at bookstores, here and Amazon.

Here are some printable activities for your little ones, click on the images to enlarge.

Sharing the Love with Play-doh

Instead of giving lollipops and candy why not give these cute 2oz containers of play-doh to your child's classmates.  Children over 2 years will enjoy these cute colourful containers of play-doh, which will allow them to make whatever they want.  My daughter made small heart shapes and my son made a play-doh flower for me :)
I enjoyed playing with the play-doh as well, while showing  my kids how to make flowers with it.
These containers of play-doh will keep children entertained for quite a while, and I am sure many parents and teachers will appreciate this :)
I like that the package comes with 15 containers and stickers for us to personalize and place on the container.  I used a marker to personalize it because pencils and regular pens didn't work well.
These play-doh containers, along with the printable cards below would be awesome treats for our children's friends at school.

Win your own copy of Peter Pan Diamond Edition

Disney celebrates the 60th anniversary release of Peter Pan with its Diamond Edition Blu-ray Combo Pack (Blu-ray + DVD + Digital Copy & Storybook App) on February 5th.
This is a classic tale of Wendy, John and Michael as they fly with Peter Pan and Tinker Bell to the enchanted world of Never Land.

The blu-ray combo pack is filled with bonus features including the groundbreaking feature Disney Intermission, Growing up with Nine Old Men short film, never-before-seen Deleted Scenes and a never-before-heard Deleted Song and more.
My children enjoyed watching the whole movie.  They had lots of favourite parts such as the time Peter Pan fought with Captain hook, when Wendy was with the mermaids and when Peter Pan returned the children to their home.
Here are some Printable Pirate Puzzles, Connect the Dots Darling Star Gazer and Never Land Fun & Games complement Magical Bookmarks featuring your favourite characters!
Download Peter Pan Never Grow Up Games
The big theme of Peter Pan is not growing up, which I think is sometimes a good thing so we can be carefree and play, not worry about time so much :)
I join my children sometimes when they play or do crafts, which is a nice way to spend time without thinking of all the work that needs to be done :) and my children do inspire me to many things I do including this blog.  Playing is fun as it helps us learn, so I would say it is okay to play with food :) as long as there is no waste.
Seeing the world the way children do with innocence makes a difference and helps a lot when we are dealing with grown up problems.

Disney's live show Phineas and Ferb was entertaining

We had a fabulous time watching Disney's live performance, Phineas and Ferb when they came to Roger's Centre, Toronto last weekend.  This show was very entertaining and engaging for children and adults.  We liked the music, energy, the songs, costumes and the liveliness of the show.
About 10 minutes before the show started some of the performers got our attention by asking questions related to Phineas and Ferb.  My daughter knew the answer from the TV series, which made her more excited.
My son was looking forward to see Perry from the start, so he was excited when Perry the Platypus entered the show in the midst of the audience with lights flashing and bodyguards around him.
My son's favourite part was the Bollywood dance; he found it quite funny and was laughing about it even after the show.

The backdrop (or cyclorama) was very original and I liked how they incorporated it to the show.
When the characters came into the stage.
When Perry was talking.
Perry and Dr. Doofenshmirtz fighting with lightsabers
Perry fighting with the bad guys and ninjas.
The monster truck, that resembles the Monster Jam trucks.  I will be posting about that soon.
My daughter likes the part when the "busted" song was played.  My husband and I really enjoyed all the parts, especially when Candace was controlled by the machine and she acted like Vicki from the 80s TV show Small Wonder.
The show kept the audience engaged throughout, as some goodies were thrown for the audience to catch, balls bounced and in the end there were glittery paper thrown in the VIP section.  Some children from the VIP section were also asked to come on stage to dance.  I thought it was well choreographed that it put me in the mood to start planning for summer :)
