Herbs and Healing Foods - informative books for wellness

As we spend more time outdoors in the garden during the summer, I try to include everything we grow from flowers, herbs, vegetables, and fruits into our meals and daily lives. These DK books Complete wellness, Healing foods, and Encyclopedia of Herbal Medicine have been an inspiration.
Complete Wellness delivers a head-to-toe guide to healing for every part of our body so we can enjoy long-lasting holistic health and prepare natural health remedies for common ailments with essential oils, herbal remedies, and pure foods. It is a good way to learn tried and tested, centuries-old herbal remedies, so we can include it into our lifestyle.

For example...
A treatment for acne infuse 1 to 2 teaspoons dried thyme in 6 fl oz of boiling water and apply as a skin wash twice daily or drink as a tea twice daily.
Stress buster vitamin C recipe blend until smooth 5 1/2 oz of mixed berries such as blackberries, strawberries, and raspberries with regular yogurt and drink immediately.
Drinking a skin cleansing tea once a day made with 1 to 2 teaspoon dried parley in 6 fl oz of boiling water.
The importance of practicing yoga, meditation, and exercise to maintain good health.
There are step-by-step demonstrations on how to blend our own teas and tinctures; concoct all-natural-ingredient creams; create therapeutic aromatherapy oil blends; discover delicious recipes for wellness; and master a variety of other practical techniques and tips for well-being. We really like how it suggests top herbs, nutrients, and essential oils for each area of the body not only to stay well, but to reach the very peak of wellness, whether to boost circulation, enjoy glowing skin, balance gut flora, or maximize energy levels.
Healing Foods teaches us how to take care of our health by showing what foods are best and how to optimize their super-food potential. There are more than 200 healing foods, from carrots to clementines, and 150 easy-to-prepare recipes. The book shows how certain foods can be incorporated into daily life to target specific health issues. The content is separated by types of food such as orchard fruits, berries, tropical fruits, fruiting and flowering vegetables, bulbs and stems, seeds and sprouts, medicinal herbs, culinary herbs, cereals and grains, dried beans, spices, fats and oils, fish, and more.
The book gives details on what the food is good for, how to get the best from it, and how to use it.
For example...
Apples, high in pectin, fiber, and releases sugars slow which helps improve heart health, reduces cholesterol, and regulate blood sugar levels. It has many important vitamins and minerals that is needed for healthy bones, so it is best to eat the entire apple with its peel.
The seed inside the apricot stone is edible and it has anticancer properties and helps remove toxins.
There are over 550 key herbs and their uses as natural remedies for nearly 200 common ailments in the Encyclopedia of Herbal Medicine 2nd Edition by Andrew Chevallier an experienced medical herbalist, healer, and author of books on botanical medicine. The book starts off by giving the history of herbal medicine, and then details about each of the mentioned herb and plant's habitat and cultivation, parts used, active constituents, therapeutic properties, and traditional and current uses. The format makes it easy to read about the chemistry of plants and how and why they work as medicines within the body.
