Building Skills at TAC Summer Camp: Sports, Swimming, STEM and Offer

Our children have been part of Toronto Athletic Camps (TAC) over the past three years, and they love returning to TAC summer camp! This is where they learned many of their sports skills, and gained a love for robotics. It is an active camp with caring staff, and an environment focused on building skills in a fun way that children want to be part of! It is the premier sports and educational academy, specializing in self-image and self-confidence building sports programs for ages 3.5 to 16 in Toronto and the GTA.

TAC specializes in sports such as soccer, basketball, swimming, tennis, badminton, biking, gymnastics and mixed martial arts. They also have educational programs such as Lego Architect, STEM, Public Speaking and Leadership.

This year, TAC camp has grown to have nine locations across the GTA offering half day or full day camp. They have programs such as Adventure Multi-sport camp for children age 3.5 to 5 years, and different choice of sports for children age 6 to 12 years. TAC also has leadership in training programs for youth age 13 to 16 years. We love that they have a variety of activities and sports for us to choose from depending on the location and amenities. TAC camp is an all-inclusive summer camp; we can choose to include lunch and snacks, and they also have extended care.

We like that camp groups are separated by programs, and according to skill level and age based on the first day student assessment. This allows children to set goals, enjoy the sports, and challenge themselves for maximum fun during the week.

TAC camp uses the 5 Star Development System that provides a development map of 50+ essential skills for each of the sports and activities for children to progress towards. Students are also given awards on intangible, character building traits such as Sportsmanship, Leadership, Vocality, and Passion. Children get the opportunity to set goals and intentions for the sessions, so they learn to have accountability for improving and practicing throughout the week. On the last day of the weekly camp, children get their progress tracking and certificates.

As children progress on their sports skills and build their physical skills, they also develop social skills, and get the opportunity to improve their team-work skills, leadership skills, and confidence through a variety of gameplay. The sport program at TAC is coordinated and directed by expert camp directors trained in Kinesiology, Sports Psychology and Educational Development. As parents, we feel confident our children are trained in the correct methods. All coaches are highly trained through the National Coaching Certification Program of Canada, with Vulnerable Sector Checks and Standard First Aid and CPR. The coach-to-student ratio is 1:5, so children get the attention they need to develop skills and meet their goals by the end of the week.

When enrolling your children for summer camp at TAC, do take advantage of their savings such as sibling discount and multi-week discounts. As parents, we love their commitment to our children's well-being. TAC gives children professional instruction and guidance to grow and excel – and to have fun while they do it!
