BigSteelBox A Solution for Storage During Renovations and Moving

In the past few years, we've done a number of different renovations around the home and most recently renovated our basement, bathroom and kitchen. When undertaking these big scale home renovation projects, it can become quite stressful when living in the same space. Clearing the space helps, but finding additional space to store the items can be difficult. We also found everything in the home gets covered with fine dust, which means we need to constantly clean up; so, having lots of things around doesn’t make it easy. In our experience, we felt when the space is not cleared the furniture and belongings get in the way and become a hassle, and it is hard to envision the full potential of the space.

During the renovation of our basement, we had to move everything in our basement from big pieces of furniture such as the sofa, carpets, bookcases out of the way. It was a struggle having these items that take up space in areas of the house they don't belong for several weeks. With young children in our home, we needed to keep some of the space clutter-free to avoid accidents, so we ended up donating a lot of the items. At that time, we didn't think about storing all of our big pieces of furniture somewhere as we were not sure how long the renovation would take.

Thinking back to all the dilemmas that came across during our renovations I wish we had known about the BigSteelBox, as they allow for you to store your items in a shipping container on your property. With the use of the BigSteelBox, we wouldn't have had to worry about storing or damaging our furniture and belongings during the renovation process, or getting rid of some.

With the use of the BigSteelBox, we could have been less stressed, as we would have been able to store the container in our yard, or alternatively on site at BigSteelBox. We like that they will deliver the storage to us, so there is no need for a truck. They also have Storage Consultants that help you decide the size of Box that you’ll need before they deliver it. Being able to pack at our own pace, and access the items we store as needed, would be one of the biggest benefits of the BigSteelBox. They even have the option of placing shelf brackets to help us make the space within the BigSteelBox more efficient.

I also like this concept because not only can we use BigSteelBox for storage, but also when we are moving homes. It would come in handy especially when the moving dates do not align, or if you are moving long distances such as to a new city. This type of service would be great for us, as it would allow us to have a better understanding of costs during a renovation or move, which can end up being more expensive than expected if you exceed the weight limitations set by the other moving companies.

I expect we will have a number of home renovation projects in the future, and I believe using a storage solution like BigSteelBox will help significantly to reduce the stress that usually comes with it!

  2. We used storage boxes for most of our stuff when our house wasn't finished on time and the other house sold. It meant moving into rented accommodation whilst they finished building our house, which took about 6 months longer than planned - you'd think with so much extra time it would have been close to perfect, it fell way, way short of that. We had about 350 points listed on the walk through - and I didn't discover that my heating didn't work properly right away nor that my water pipes in the kitchen froze, that the dishwasher wasn't connected, that they'd forgotten to put in the floor heating in the bathroom - the list is unending and not with little things either.

  5. Wish they had these when we renovated our first home several years ago. We constantly moved rooms and furniture to different spaces. I believe our living room was in 5 different places before it got to its finally home.

  6. My cousin used this methods while moving to a house he wasn't able to possess as soon as he wanted. The owner allowed him to place this on the driveway and he was so glad he did it.
