While driving to Northern Ontario we can see a drastic scenic change from rolling hills with farms and fields found in Southern Ontario to rugged, rocky landscapes with rocks and forests. This geological change is prominent when we visit Ontario Parks such as Killbear.
We enjoyed seeing a few of the 30,000 islands that Georgian Bay is famous for as we hiked the trails at Killbear.
We went to the longest trail at Killbear, which is 3.5 km. This Lookout Point trail leads us to a scenic view of the islands.
While hiking we kept our eyes wide open to see snakes and bears; we didn't see either - which I am quite thankful for :)
We also went on a short hike to see the Lighthouse point, and took lots of beautiful scenic pictures.
We found the visitors centre to be educating, and worth going by to learn about the history of the area, wildlife, and more.
Killbear is close to other provincial parks such as Grundy Lake in Parry Sound, so while you are there do check out the other parks.
