The Great Food Truck Race Will Be Touring Route 66 This Season

I enjoy watching episodes of The Great Food Truck Race because it is not only about food, but also about a road trip adventure, and an exciting competition. I am looking forward to watch the upcoming sixth season that starts on Sunday, August 23rd at 9pm ET/PT. In this six-episode season, there will be a brand-new fleet of fierce competitors that will cook and travel across America’s most famous stretch of road, historic Route 66.

The Great Food Truck Race reflects the fast, intense, creative food culture. The seven teams that will be competing are professional food truck operators from around United States. The competitors are known regionally for their culinary talents and selling skills. It will be cool to watch who makes it to the end.

This season’s competitors are:
  • Diso’s Italian Sandwich Society (Brooklyn, New York),
  • GD Bro Truck (Orange Country, California),
  • Pho Nomenal Dumplings (Raleigh, North Carolina),
  • Postcards (Los Angeles),
  • Spice It Up (Phoenix),
  • The Guava Tree Truck (Dallas) and
  • Waffle Love (Provo, Utah).
This 2,500-mile, food-filled road battle will be starting in Santa Monica, California. The competitors' first challenge will be to sell $200 of their signature dish on the Santa Monica Pier. After this, the teams will be driving to Lake Havasu City, where they are challenged to create their own take on a fish and chips dish. The first team to sell 20 orders wins a cash prize.

These food truck pros will be quickly learning this race is more than just another day in the kitchen and one team is sent packing. The race then follows Route 66 to Flagstaff and Sedona, Arizona; Santa Fe, New Mexico; Amarillo, Texas; Tulsa, Oklahoma; St. Louis; Springfield, Illinois and Chicago. The winning truck is awarded a $50,000 cash prize. Hope you are excited, as I am to watch the show :)
