The LG Art of The Pixel Inspires Young Artists and Empowers Creativity

LG is inspiring and empowering young artists through technology this year, as LG Electronics holds its first-ever New Media Competition. The Art of the Pixel challenges students at a selection of the art schools in the United States to create still and motion digital artwork for display on LG’s Ultra HD and OLED TVs.

Each individual pixel is important when it comes to colour and clarity of the images on the screen. Digital art by nature requires a display technology, and LG is pleased to provide the canvas for today’s digital artwork with their Ultra HD and OLED TVs.

One finalist from each school will receive a $5,000 cash prize plus a trip to a gala event in New York City, where the top winner will receive an additional $5,000. One winning artist from each of nine participating schools will receive a $5,000 cash prize and be featured in an LG-organized Black Tie Event in NYC. The First Place winner will be awarded an additional $5,000, the Second Place winner will receive an additional $3,000 and the First and Second Place winners’ schools will receive a $50,000 and $25,000 grant, respectively.

Eligible participants have to complete the entry form and upload the original work of digital art to participate. Full submission guidelines are provided in the student kit that can be downloaded after registering. There is a limit of one entry per person. Submissions will be accepted beginning June 1, through July 13, 2014.

Students, friends and art enthusiasts can view the submissions and vote once per day for their favourites after registering and completing a brief form from July 1 until July 31, 2014.
