Fun Movies: The Internship, The Heat and Kung Fu Panda

My husband and I first watched, The Internship when we were travelling on Emirates. We are very excited that this PG movie is out on blu-ray October 22nd. Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson team up to crash the digital world in this laugh-out-loud buddy comedy.
Trying to reboot their obsolete careers, old-school salesmen Billy (Vaughn) and Nick (Wilson) talk their way into an internship program at the state-of-the-art Google campus, vying for a handful of spots among tech-savvy college students who are half their age and twice as smart. The competition is fiercely funny as Billy and Nick break all the rules in a hilarious quest to land their dream jobs.

It may seem like there are always new stars appearing in Hollywood, many of who quickly fade into the background while others shine and rise to the top. Max Minghella and Dylan O’Brien from The Internship are two fresh faces on the scene and are certainly stars to look out for.

In 2012, Dylan O’Brien played the role of a young high school boy in the romantic comedy "The First Time". He had previously taken a part in High Road, an improvised comedy, as a 16-year-old stoner. The romantic teen flick, however, showed a deeper side to O’Brien. His character, Dave Hodgman, connects with an attractive girl from a different high school and ends up experiencing love for the first time. O’Brien was endearing and certainly caught the eye of many teenage girls, who swooned over his adorable smile. In the huge TV series Teen Wolf, O’Brien makes his name as one of the leading characters, Stiles. A student at Beacon Hills, Stiles had his world turned upside down when his best friend became a werewolf. O’Brien captures the audience’s attention with his sarcastic sense of humor and depiction of a truly loyal friend.

Minghella made an appearance on the big screen as Divya Narendra in The Social Network, the hit movie depicting the story behind Facebook. Divya was a brilliant rival of Mark Zuckerberg, infuriated by the fact that he was not making it big with a site such as Facebook. Minghella’s talent was evident in his bitter and angry portrayal of Divya. Minghella started his career in 2005, however he really hit the big time in 2011 as the young Ben Harpen, a staff member on Governor Mike Morris’ campaign in The Ides of March. Minghella had the opportunity to work alongside George Clooney, Ryan Gosling, and Philip Seymour Hoffman.

The young stars finally came together with The Internship, where Minghella and O’Brien both depict young interns for Google alongside Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson. O’Brien, who is on the same team as Vaughn and Wilson, plays a nerdy guy who spends the majority of his time staring at his cell phone. Minghella plays their opponent, Graham Hawtrey who bullies the rest of the interns.
The Heat is out on blu-ray and DVD on October 15th and it is a funny movie for adults. Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy are a “dynamite duo” in this outrageously funny comedy from the director of Bridesmaids, Paul Feig. Uptight FBI Special Agent Sarah Ashburn (Bullock) and foul-mouthed Boston cop Shannon Mullins (McCarthy) couldn't be more incompatible. But when they join forces to bring down a ruthless drug lord, they become the last thing anyone expected...buddies.
Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness: The Scorpion Sting is out on DVD October 15th. Get ready for more high-kicking action and fur-flying fun in this awesome animated TV series based on the Academy Award®-Nominated movie Kung Fu Panda. My children enjoyed this series and I too found the parts I watched funny. Po may not be our typical warrior, but he packs an arsenal of martial arts skills as big as his heart and his stomach. Po and the Furious Five, Tigress, Monkey, Mantis, Crane and Viper are always ready to fight for what is right.  They face exotic dangers at every turn, including a pair of magic shoes with an evil “sole,” and Scorpion, one of the sharpest villains in all the land.
