We Made a Monster With Soap Inspired by Monsters University

From the time my children watched Monsters Inc., Monsters Mike and Sully have been regularly spoken about in our home when they play. When I told them there are Monsters University toys inside Kinder they were super excited. The new partnership between Kinder® and Monsters University guarantees that specially-marked Kinder® Surprise® packages to have 100% licensed toys; kids will get one of the twelve toys without disappointment each time :) We like collecting these loveable monsters inside Kinder, check the new collection of toys and vote for your favourite on Kinder Facebook.
Everywhere we see, the talks are about Sully and his friends at Monster University. We spotted them at Sport Chek and Staples among many other places.
My children were scared of monsters until they watched Monsters Inc., and figured out the real deal about monsters. Now, they talk about monsters like new found friends and sometimes during the day I hear them play and speak as though Sully and Mike are inside the closet. At night the same closet becomes a scare zone, so I have to convince them by saying that there is nothing in the closet with a prayer or two :)
We enjoyed watching Monsters University, which is about Mike and Sully's university career and all that they do to make it to the Scare program. Their university life reminded me of sorority, parties, varsity games and other adventures of university life. If you haven't watched it yet, then this would be a good family movie to watch in the theatres this summer.
I was inspired to make our own monster, when I saw a craft idea on the Big Book of Things to Make. This is the Crabby Soap Monster we made, remember every monster is unique.
To make you will need...
A bar of soap
Pipe cleaners
Googly eyes or anything you can find to decorate

This craft needs an adults help. Put the bar of soap in a microwave safe plate and microwave it for 2 minutes. Since our bar of soap was a small one, 2 minutes was too long because our soap was almost going to burn. So the time depends on the size of the soap bar.

I folded the melted soap immediately using a spoon and let it cool before allowing the kids to decorate it using pipe cleaners and material they find.

  30. I would never ever think of microwaving soap. That's clever. I looked at this at first and thought it was food. It looks yummy almost. Weird, right? Anyways I like the fun new toys too. It's great how Kinder keeps coming up with fun new ideas to partner with fantastic companies and brands.
