Win a copy of the Canadian Gardener's Guide

We were eagerly waiting to do gardening and thank God the weather in Toronto has become suitable for it :) The past few weeks we've been gardening, cleaning up, planning on what to plant, putting down some seeds, and basically getting ready for the season.
You've probably seen my posts about the importance of using the correct gardening toolsequipment, having the right soil, and other posts about plantingI am a self-taught gardener, and get helpful information and knowledge by reading gardening books before I start my projects.
I am glad that there are many gardening books for us to learn from such as this garden design book. All garden owners and designers will like this visual inspirational encyclopedia of ideas, which will help us plan, build, and plant to get the perfect outdoor space. The whole design process is explained in this book, which we can use to evaluate our space and choose the correct plants and landscaping material by looking through this book.
The concept of garden design has always existed, since man started to cultivate land for crops and livestock; however it has changed according to style, skill, wealth, travel etc. Since there are lots of choices out there it is difficult to bring the projects to reality, so I think referring to books such as this will help us narrow down the style and materials we like.
Another wonderful book is this Kitchen Garden cookbook edited by Caroline Bretherton. This book has over 200 recipes so we can cook our seasonal goodies in different ways, plus information on how to pick and preserve the vegetable and fruits that grow in our garden. It is easy to refer to the content in this book, as it is separated by seasons and by the vegetables and fruits that grow during the season. I like the colourful pictures on this book and the ease of some of the recipes in this book, which I have bookmarked to try.
Gardening and tending our own vegetables and fruits is satisfying, as we can see the wonders of the seedlings becoming rewarding plants.

  29. I'm in Ontario. This book would be a big help as I really want a nice-looking garden but I have no idea where to start! I do not have a green thumb at all. In the past my mom has helped me out. She wants to do it again this year and help me change things up a bit and simplify everything. I think we'd really like to look through the designs featured in the book together to get some ideas.
