Time to think of Summer Camps

It is time to think of Summer Camps already, especially if you want to get a spot. TIFF Summer Day Camp sessions are geared towards children ages 8 to 16.
The variety of camp sessions at Tiff Bell Lightbox promote creative thinking, filmmaking, teamwork and technical expertise.

Film Fun 101 is an intensive two-week session for children age 8 to 10 that focuses on learning the pre- and post-film production of both live-action and animated films.  Campers will get to write and pitch scripts, act, direct, edit and animate within the TIFF camp environment.

Film Leaders in Training is for youth age 15 to 17.  This programme offers a supervised setting in which the participants can grow professionally and collaboratively.  The campers will be instructed in everything behind the scenes, the art of screenwriting, directing, shooting and editing.  They will also get to act on-camera and their film will premiere for friends and family at TIFF Bell Lightbox.

Animation + Awesome is a two-week session for youth age 12 to 16. Participants will explore various styles of animated filmmaking, producing several short pieces both individually and in groups. This camp also includes field trips, film screenings and special guests. Participants will have created a multitude of short animated films to showcase for family and friends during the camp screening at the end of each session.

Puppets + Film for 9 to 12 year olds will allow campers to make unique puppet short film, create sets, puppets and puppet bios in a fun, collaborative and creative environment.

Video Game Design for 10 to 14 year old is a one-week boot camp that offers the perfect introduction to digital gaming.

You Ain't Scene Nothing Yet is a session for 12 to 16 year old youth interested in how a real film set operates. Participants will develop skills in screenwriting, directing, shooting and editing before producing their own ‘director’s cut’ version of their film.  The camp experience culminates on the final Friday with a screening for family and friends.

Music Video Mayhem teaches 12 to 16 year old campers the necessary technical skills and confidence to turn a musical track into a music video within a week.

  1. It sounds interesting. When my kids are old enough I definitely send them to camps.

  2. There are such a great variety of camps available for kids now. I try and get my son involved in a couple each summer.
